Lime, turquoise, red, hot pink, orange plus.....

minty green...

school bus yellow...

pale pink...

sky blue...put them all together, mix them up a bit and you get...

this. (No name...I'm blank on this one!)

I know now why I was in a funk about this quilt. It was too bright, even for me. Adding the pastel panels calmed it down a bit. The scraps draw you in to look closer. I like that.

It's still bright...

I may need to wear sunglasses when I snuggle under this one. Fine with me.

Love the concept of using your scraps, and I love the execution of it all. It could be your "crayon box" quilt.
ReplyDeleteI love that quilt. it looks like a decent size quilt. what size did the blocks finish at?
ReplyDeletejust beautiful.
C. Jaeger had a great idea.....Crayon Box is a darling name!
ReplyDeleteJacquie, cute, cute, cute! Nice job, yet again.
sweet quilt top! I was thinking of "Rainbow Brite" when I first saw it - remember her? I love how you framed each color in the solid - great definition for each block :)
ReplyDeleteI was wondering how you were going to tie the panels together in a quilt. Now I know. The frame for each one totally works.
ReplyDeleteOh I love your quilt but I am a bright gal, it can never be to bright for me! beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteVery cool - I love that!
ReplyDeleteMmmm very cool. I love it!
ReplyDeleteNot too bright for me! I simply love it! You really made a great quilt from some fantastic leftovers.
ReplyDeleteI love it! My first thought was Psychedelic Rainbow!
ReplyDeleteI love these colorful blocks! I need to get my scraps out and start playing
ReplyDeleteHmmm, "The Corey Hart Quilt?" Or how about a more straightforward "Technicolor Rainbow."
ReplyDeleteWhooops, not Corey Hart (he's Sunglasses at Night), I should have said "The Timbuk3 Quilt," that's more accurate.
ReplyDeleteHow about "Fruit Salad"? I see oranges, lemons, limes, cherries, strawberries and watermelon. There are blue berries too!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Kristin. I immediately thought of the song from the 80's "the future's so bright I gotta wear shades". There you go "Shades": that's my vote. I love this quilt. It's giving me an idea with what I should do with some scraps. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteoh it looks great! i love that each block is a different color, and i think you were right to add the lighter blocks! smokin' chickie :o)
ReplyDeletelooking great and can't you just imagine people sitting there looking at each and every scrap? That is what my non quilting friends do when i make something...they look at each fabric and say i like this one best and then... no this one
ReplyDeleteMaybe it should be called
"simply the best"
Beautiful!! So funky and fun!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant use of your scrap fabrics - love how each block showcases a particular colour.
ReplyDeleteLove the top, what a great way to use up scraps!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Jacquie! I just love how all the different fabrics keep the blocks so interesting.
ReplyDeleteI totally love this. Totally. You're my hero. Ok if I make one too? I'll call it Jacquie's Just Fabulous Scrap Quilt.
ReplyDeleteJacquie,
ReplyDeleteI've already made a comment in flickr about this. something about "flashback or journey"?
wow - it's bright but beautifully so. I love it!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty and bright! Love all the scraps used...
ReplyDeleteKris
J, It is interesting. I luv interesting. Well done!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know there was such a thing as "too bright".
It’s not too bright! I love it!
ReplyDeleteMakes me think of the song ‘Always look on the bright side of life’ (Monty Python).
Hey Jacquie
ReplyDeleteThe j Martinez is me, Joanna :) Sorry, I must have just put my initial on the envelope!! Glad it arrived.

ReplyDeleteSo very happy!
ReplyDeleteIt fabulous. I wanna make one! If only I could make some progress on this other stuff!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of something. mmmm. Oh yeah! A water color paint thingy. The ones we had in gradeschool. I don't know why but it does. Just a few colors, bright and happy and ready to paint with! Love it!
ReplyDeleteIt makes me smile! Such a great use of scraps. It is very spring like... and I love it too!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks amazing! The scrappy by colour works so well.

ReplyDeleteVery cool ... I like it.
ReplyDeletedefinitely bright, but so cheery! I love it Jacquie! You are so right! I just want to sit and look at each piece of fabric that make up each block, so I don't overlook any of it's fabulousness!
ReplyDeleteFunny, I am always scared to try really busy patterns all together or lots of colors, and yet when ui see it on someone's page I always think they look so fantastic! nice job, I think it turned out great. I love the bright colors
ReplyDeleteI'd call it, WOOOOO,WHOOOOO. It's absolutely terrific.

Love all the different brightly colored squares and how you put them all together!!
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt. What about naming it.... Something strange happened on the way to the Improv!
ReplyDeleteI love, love this quilt. What a great idea to do with your scraps. I hope you will post the finished, quilted, item.
ReplyDeleteLove this quilt! I actually really like the bright colors. I especially am liking the way the frames really define the block even though a lot of the fabrics in each block have other colors. That's very cool.
ReplyDeleteThe spiderweb quilt looks exciting, can hardly wait to see more blocks and for you to put it together. I love reading Ric-Rac too; she almost always sends me into fits of giggling.
It reminds me of a Tic Tac Toe. I like it a lot!
ReplyDeletehow about color my world?
ReplyDeletenice quilt
So sunny and bright! Love it!
ReplyDeleteOh, it's delish! I love the idea of the added solid borders!
