This Post Is Brought To You By....Scraps

Scraps are treasures. Sheree sent me a box of scraps from a giveaway and when they arrived I decided that I would make something to share the love...kinda like an unofficial pay it forward. I think Sheree likes pink because there was an abundance of pink scraps in the box, so this is what I came up with:
before quilting...
after quilting and a wash and dry...
The quilts are pink, pink sun, pink clouds, pink back, pink binding. Everything from scraps (Sheree's and mine)...even the background is a scrap from an old tablecloth. Thanks Sheree! If only I had a little girl, or even a pink room, I'd keep this in an instant, but alas, I don't. So, if you'd like this to come to your house, let me know where it might go or who you might give it to. I'll draw a name randomly on Friday. If you left a comment on Ben's blog, consider yourself entered and feel free to enter again! It's 25 x 22.
I made more houses too....I'm up to 21....these all need their sashing.
I might want to live in the Frank Lloyd Wright inspired one.
Amy's blocks are done for her month in the Common Threads virtual quilting bee. Again, fun blocks to make. These range from 2 inches to 6.5 inches.
I'm done making small quilts for a bit. Mostly I've done them to practice with my machine. It's time to break out the big quilts and get them under that machine.

Speaking of scraps and treasures...you should see Penny's 'Scraps to Treasure' quilt. Stunning! I'm working on my scraps to treasure project this week too.

Aren't Sheree's scraps awesome! I made a cute little wonky house mini quilt with mine! Oh so fun. I love your clothes line! Oh so cute! I must win. Musn't I? Yes I think I should. I'm loving your house blocks too! I'll be making several of those myself over the next few months. Can't wait to get started. Have a Happy Week Jacquie! P.S. Today is the official day of starting to run again. Wish me luck!

I couldn't give it away if I won so I'd have to be selfish and keep it! Originals by Jacquie!!! I'm truly considering painting an accent wall in the basement pink...when I move my sewing space down there. LOVE your houses. Hubby loves Frank Lloyd Wright that's on our "to see" list when we visit Chicago this weekend.

PS Who is Ben?

Oops never mind. I just remembered Ben is your son, and he has a blog for his band. I had stopped by last week, but I didn't leave a comment. Anyway, sorry for the lapse in memory. I am a very regular reader.

That Wright house made me smile.
*S* Just sitting there so smug.

I've had a home office for years but the work demands have slowed and the creative me is chomping at the bit to stop dreaming and start creating. Your little pink beauty is the perfect color and just the inspiration I need.

Very sweet quilt! I've got a little two-year old that would love it in her room. Thank you for your inspiring website!!

I would love a Jacquie quilt!!! I would hang it in my laundry room which is just off my studio.

I just think scraps are the best!

Nanette Merrill said...

Oh Gosh JAcquie. I love them all so much. You truly do inspire me. Sometimes I dream an idea and I come here and you've already got it on fabric!

Kigwit said...

If you gave it to me I would give it to my four year old son. His favorite color is pink and he tells me about his pink house that has a tiny keyhole for a pink key. The best part about the pink house is that there is a "nee-nee room"-a sewing room for the two of us that has a big table for me and a smaller table for him. My DH asked if he could have a table in our "nee-nee" room but DS shut him out. It's just for the two of us to work on our projects.

It's a great idea for scraps. I love how the quilts look like they are blowing on the line.

Cheryl Arkison said...

If you move into that house I might have to come and visit...

Yay for big quilts!

I am so glad that I stumbled across your blog! If I won the quilt I would use it for inspiration. Just like I use your blog for inspiration. :) Thank you so much for sharing all of your great ideas!

Pink is the new black... ;)

Actually, pink is my favourite colour, so I would LOVE to win this!

Can't wait to see your "big quilts". :D

Teresa C said...

Oh, please enter me, I would give this to my newest little friend, Eloise. She joined us on the 25th of October, her mom's birthday. After three days of labor, a c-section, difficult with the incision, and almost leaving us with a horrible hemorrhage, mom and daughter are finally home and getting to know each other. It has been a long ten days and this quilt would bring more pink sunshine into their lives.

Poppyprint said...

Sweet, sweet scraps! Let's see, if I were to be the lucky recipient, I might share with my pink-loving niece, or formerly pink-loving-but-moved-onto-blue daughter, or maybe it will join my other mini-quilts on my sewing room wall. It might have to live several lives! Thanks for the giveaway Jacquie.

Julie said...

Well, you've met my daughter so you know that I'd have to give it to her! She is a quilter too although more free form. So this sort of quilt would be good inspiration for her. Thanks Jacquie. You inspire both Kate and me!!!

I think the quilts on the line are a perfect variation on your laundry theme! So perfect for a little girl.

Kathy said...

I have two daughters (5 and 6) who share a pink room. This quilt would be a perfect addition. Also, they were introduced to quilting this weekend by their Aunt and helped sew dolls and hand sewed quilts for their dolls. Now, they want a sewing maching. One daughter has decided she will sew only and the other will sew and knit (she has learned knitting also). Great to start them at a young age. I have decided I would like to learn to quilt so I've been lurking, enjoying your beautiful quilts!

Really.
Very very inspiring.

That is such a sweet little quilt! I am expecting in November, and if I have a girl (after two boys) I would hang it up over her change table so she can enjoy it. If I have a boy, I would give it to my god daughter for her birthday. I think the pretty pinks would look great against the bright green walls in her bedroom.

I'm thinking that is just too pretty & would be perfect for my utility room. I'm obsessive about hanging washing on the line;(- it makes me feel unbelievably happy!) I'm dreading the winter when it happens infrequently but this would be a beautiful reminder of happier washing days!

Oh I love it! I have been eyeing your clothesline quilts for a while and they always look great. I am starting a new job next week and I think this would be a great way to personalize my small cube. I have been thinking for a while now about how I could make that small space personal and incorporate something I love. I had been toying with the idea of making a small wall quilt for the space but have been to busy tackling the things on my to do list before returning to work. This would be just perfect because it would capture my love of quilts and the color pink all in one place :) I left Ben a comment too I know he is excited about the experience and what a great thing for him.

Anna said...

I love it! With two girls I'm sure we'd put it in their room.

The laundry quilt is so cute well actually all of your quilts have inspired me to get back to my quilting roots. Ive spent the weekend in my pink and green sewing room trying to put order to all my stash (my hubby is always teasing me that I could open a fabric store with all my fabric) This would be so cute on my wall or on the wall of my girls bedroom. ( I have 3 girls and they share the same room, they also do all the laundry) Thank you for all the great ideas! Yours is probably my favorite blogspot.

greetingarts said...

Jacquie, that is so beautiful! What a generous soul you are. My pink-loving girls are requesting one just like it, I'm going to have to dig through my pink scraps and see what happens. Love your houses, they are so fun and seem very freeing, if you know what I mean...

Aimee said...

I've just spent a few minutes catching up. How exciting for Ben, but "oh my"! I can only imagine the swirl of emotions that mom you must be having. Also, I know that these are the kinds of things in store for me in a few years....
So much inspiration here - as usual I love everything you are up to. The improv houses - LOVE!!

Lynn said...

If I won this quilt - I'd keep it for myself and I would put it in my laundry room. I spend a lot of time in my laundry room ( A LOT of time). I'd hang it over where I do my ironing and I would look at it and it would make me happy. And plus it may remind me to bring in the sheets off the line because I have a bad habit of forgetting to do that. With all of it's cherry pinky goodness it would bring a new joy to the drudgery of laundry.

Sew Much More said...

Would it be too selfish to want to keep it for myself? I just love your quilts Jacquie. I don't think I could part with it if I won.

I stumbled upon your blog a couple of months ago and you inspired me to get bernie tuned up and active again after a 5 year vacation. If I won it would hang over my desk reminding me every day where my inspiration came from. Thank you for sharing. I love tuning into your blog. monique

Hey Jacquie...a long admirer (stalker) and reader of your blog...I love everything you do. That pink clothesline quilt is so dang precious, I just cannot stand it! My granddaughter, Kaylynn, age 4, is such a girly girl and would love that! Great giveaway! The houses are very fun, don't you think?

I love it! Super cute with all the pinks, and even better that it is all scraps. I think I'll start saving my scraps just for an occasion such as this. If it came to my home, it would have it's very own wall in my sewing room where it would give off endless inspiration. Love it!

A very cute quilt indeed. I am partial to small quilts, and I love pink. Thank-you for the opportunity to own it.

I loved your earlier clothesline quilt and this one too. My sewing room isn't all coordinated, but when I add something to it, I always choose shades of pink to red to burgundy (it started with the burgundy paisley comforter on the spare bed in my sewing room). I'd smile every time I saw your happy scrap clothesline hanging on my wall.
Thanks so much,
Kathleen C.

It is beautiful! I would give it to my super-sweet daughter. Just a moment ago when I was reading your post she walked by, took a look at your lovely pink quilt and said, "Cool sun!".

Oh, how lovely! These little quilts remind me of summer days when my mom would have me hang the laundry. The sheets would blow in the breeze and later that night I'd smell the fresh air in my bed. Good memories. I'd love to hand this in my sewing room. I've got a blank spot right on the wall in front of my sewing table. It would be great inspiration! Thanks for sharing. Beth

Oooh...the laundry quilt is lovely! I would love to hang it in my guest/sewing room, which is right across from the laundry room :). The cheerfulness is greatly needed, as the sewing room is in the basement under a porch.

Also thanks to you and your son my boys were pretty amazed I knew who The Devil Wears Proda was and that I knew someone involved with the band. Not such a fuddy duddy after all.

I love your laundry quilts so much. I would love this one. My girls' room is pink -- and for that matter, so is their bathroom. It would be a perfect fit either place. Your work is phenomenal. I've never commented before, but I check your blog often. I love to see what you're up to.
