Resisiting the Temptation

Oh, I am not good at not starting new projects. My head is swirling with ideas itching to get out. I wonder how long this self imposed ban on starting projects will last?
For today...two more finishes. First, this table topper. It was simply a block that I was experimenting with...I hope a bunch of these ovals will make their appearance in a quilt someday. I've learned from Tonya, not to toss these experiments, but to make them into something useful instead. This one appears to be meant to be paired with my lime green vase. Flowers would be a nice addition.

The quilting on this one was inspired by Victoria's work. It was definitely harder than it looked. I do like how it gives the center of the piece some interest.
Finished my coin quilt too. I should make more baby quilts....so much easier to quilt. This has my fav color scheme and so many of my very favorite fabrics.
I love the additional row of coins on the top and bottom.
The quilting is a ribbon like quilting...sort of the same as this quilt.
The back is pink with another row of coins. Love this one...it's going into the show this summer. Hopefully someone will buy it for a sweet little baby girl.

    I LOVE the color combo on your topper - yummy! The quilting is really amazing too. and your baby quilt is so sweet! The ribbons are so delicate and pretty :)

    Oh wow....I have a 'round thang' too...only mine is in 'hot' pink instead of soft green like yours. I haven't thrown it out...I get it out and look at it accasionally. I really like yours!! I LOVE the 'coins' quilt....the quilting is wonderfully wavy!! It looks sooo inviting laying there in the warm soft sun across your chair!!

    I love them both! I really like your table topper. The quilting is very nice. I can imagine that it's harder than it looks. Straight lines always are!

    And the coins quilt is great, too. I love having the background pieces between the other fabrics. And the offset. Awesome!

    Working hard on my finishes. I have one done (a skirt for my daughter) and am about to start the handwork on the binding for a class sample. Yay for finishing! A finished quilt is better than a perfect quilt, as they say.

    I like your single girl block/topper, but I LOVE your coin quilt! (I am amassing a little pile of those colors, too, but I don't know what I will make out of it yet.)

    I bet some sweet (lucky) little girl will love that quilt!

    Your quilting skills are crazy good! I am so envious of those wavy lines. Beautiful! (I love Victoria's quilting, too.)

    What a great idea to not throw anything away!! I always use my least favorite fabrics to try things out and then chuck them when they're done...I'm going to quit doing that :)

    I am in the exact same place, treading water trying to think of what I want to do next. As a slow hand sewer I can only do one project at a time start to finish or I feel overwhelmed. I wanted to do a bed quilt for my son, but my husband is making me feel guilty that i've never made US a bed quilt!

    Love both of these! I really want to make a coin quilt too. They are so cute! And I like the ribbon quilting. I haven't really machine quilted yet, maybe this would be a good place to start?

    I had to start a new project today - only because I had to and I finished it in under an hour. My ironing board cover was ripped and I needed to make a new cover. I've had the fabric and needed to do it for a while - does it count as a UFO finished?! It's super cute and now I'm ready to work on some old projects that need to be done.

    i love the colours in the coin quilt too. i find it hard to source those kind of fabrics here - mind you I only really get to go to one quilt shop and I find it hard to buy online as the colours are not really 'true'.
    I love the oval you made - was it hard to piece it? Emily has decided she wants a double wedding ring quilt for her wedding and according to her I have to make it!!! (she is 15 and currently single so I have some time) I'm not sure my skills are up to that though.

    two beautiful finishes, jacquie. i agree, the temptation to not start another project is hard to resist. i think i have about 5-6 quilts in my mind right now and i find that whenever i think about them, i feel the need to start cutting some fabric immediately.

    I just blogged about my coin quilt as my favorite for Quilt Festival. I have the same feeling, that you can showcase fav fabrics.

    Good luck on sticking with your month. I was already trying to do that and ended when the bag that was left was to Winter in colors to do right now, at least that was my excuse.

    Stunning work Jacquie. Love it. The topper is sweet. I feel the same way - hard NOT to start something. The coins can be time consuming when you do them like that. But it ended up so wonderfully.
