I Shouldn't Have

I shouldn't have...but I did. I set off to run errands today and I had to run out to the farm (a two hour drive there and back) to pick up things I needed for Jon's awards banquet Friday night. On the way home I took a detour to Lawrence (about 30 minutes from KC).
Lawrence = Sarah's Fabrics.

Retail therapy really doesn't satisfy, but maybe it could make a long week seem a bit shorter, maybe I could miss my hubby and Fudge a little less, so...

I drove, I lingered, I shopped, I spent.

Hello Betty...it's a great name for a fabric and it's cute too.
I have a plan for these letters and who could resist a cool selvage like that?
I paid too much for these.
This one has been on my have to buy list.
I was so lucky to find two of my favorite flea market fancy prints. I bought every inch they had. Maybe 3 hours in a fabric store is a good thing.
I didn't get these at Sarah's, but they're new and I love these Paula Prass cobblestones.
Found a few fat quarters of Amy's dots in a bin...this blue wanted to come home with me.

I don't know what came over me.

Consequences:
...didn't get to the post office before it closed
...no groceries
...no texas toast to make french toast for 150 high school students this weekend
...forgot to make a hair appointment
...lost my list

I need to get it together.

    I too have a slight obsession with Sarah's. They can cure the blues/grumpies any day, especially if you get there when new stuff is arriving! And who doesn't enjoy Possums assistance? As a side note I love your quilts, I often come here when I need a bit of inspiration!

    I always lose myself in a fabric store too! I do love what you bought. How could you pass that up? The rest of your list will still be there waiting for you tomorrow. But someone else may have gotten to those fabrics before you.

    Good for you! You found some great ones.
    My hubby says I can buy fabric whenever he leaves on a business trip. I usually don't, but it feels so good to know I could if I had a hard day.

    I am thinking that a trip to the fabric store is WAY more fun than grocery shopping or post offices any day! (Thank you for letting me live vicariously through you, as I am on a month long "fabric fast"!!!)

    GREAT haul! I'm so envious of your Flea Market Fancy find. You know, a little spree doesn't hurt anyone now and then. Just make sure to use the fabric with love and it'll all be ok. (And darn it...I'm going to have to get some of those cobblestone fabrics after seeing yours!)

    That looks ALOT like my to do list today that wasn't at all done due to a fabric store. Except the texas toast part of course, but that sounds really yummy. I love all your fabric pics they are beautiful of course! -Allison

    OK...2 hrs. there...2 hrs. back = 4 hrs. to design MORE future quilts....most of the time I don't remember the drive....I am usually 'day dreaming' about my quilts or future ones I want to do!!

    I can so relate to a day like this!! I always think it has to do with the hormones... LOL.. or with filling an empty feeling because we miss the ones we love...?

    No post-office, groceries, toast, hair or list, but sure some awsome fabrics!!! Imagine all the projects!!

    I'm always on the look out for Flea Market Fancy. You scored! I told myself if I found it in Amish Country I'd buy the entire bolt. NO luck. I love Hello Betty. I have a special project I'm currently working on and I love it. :o) Retail therapy has it's benefits...you're finds are definitely worth what you didn't get accomplished!

    It's called Quilter's Distraction Disorder ( a real syndrome I made up myself). When trying to do too much, spreading ourselves too thin and having too many projects going at once we react by ... buying more fabric. A vicious circle. Since I'm on a fabric diet I'm living vicariously through all of you who post your fabric buys. Yours are real beauties - lots of eye candy.

    That was my kind of shopping trip. I'd have probably picked out the exact same stuff had I been with you. Love them all. Denise doesn't go out of vogue does she! And woul could resist betty and the japanesey prints. Yummy. Now top it off with fudge! And there you have it.

    I lived in Lawrence when I was going to KU for graduate school. Looking back I think it was very very very lucky I was so busy with school that I didn't have very much time to quilt because otherwise Sarah's would have been very dangerous.

    Oh Sarah's is one of my favorite places. My daughter lives in Lawrence and I go there everytime I visit her (she loves Sarah's too).

    When craft keeps us from our to do lists, I think it's a common theme! And when I saw that you mentioned Sarah's in Lawrence, my heart did a flip flop! I love that store, I always leave with more ideas than could be completed in one lifetime.
