The doctor said to rest my hands. I did. Well, sort of. I finished off these two smaller pieces. They were partially done, so it wasn't too much.
I have 3 large quilts basted and ready to go. Maybe a little bit each day won't be too much. I'm feeling a little bit like the tortoise when I want to be the hare. I guess the tortoise did get to the finish line. Slow and steady may be my mantra for the week.
Rest your hands? Everything okay?
ReplyDeleteI love the color combinations.
ReplyDeleteHow do you get your lines so straight?
ReplyDeleteSo lovely!!! Love the colors, the quilting, the triangles....gorgeous.
ReplyDeletethose are fun. i hope your hands are feeling better. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing a touch of RSI or Carpal Tunnel...? Rest really is the only thing for it! *waggles finger* I've done the same thing so you really should rest, or get some support straps for your wrists/hands.
ReplyDeleteFantastic work as always, but pleeease take care of yourself!
Jacquie, these are lovely! I'm sorry about having to rest your hands. I hope that they're feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteLovely! I love the straight line quilting.
ReplyDeleteNow, rest your hands. Really.
Wow Jacquie, I love these. They are Fabulous!!! Well done!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work. I hope the rest eventually pays off.
ReplyDeleteThey are both beautiful! Hope resting your hands make a big difference really soon :)
ReplyDeletewhat a pretty work!!
ReplyDeleteLovely work Jacquie.
ReplyDeleteAnd now please, rest your hands!
Really, really lovely. Simple but beautiful. So much inspiration to be had for my first doll quilt swap, so many fun new things to try!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to rest! The pretties call to you and you think "oh, a little bit will be fine." And then three hours later you realize you are in agony.
ReplyDeleteStunning...you have such a terrific eye for color and space. LOVE your flying geese.
ReplyDeleteI love these pieces! Great color choices, and your quilting, particularly on the first one, is outstanding.
ReplyDeleteYou really need to take care of your hands. . .I presume you want them to work for you for a long time. ;) I'm don't know what the problem is, but I'll tell you a couple of things that have helped me. I have arthritis and carpal tunnel in both my hands. Try a soak in warm water and Epsom salts once or twice a day. And the other thing is to get some of those support gloves. . .they're often sold in the quilt store! Both of these things have helped A LOT. Good luck and I hope your hands feel better soon.
They are both very beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI hope your hands feel better soon.
Slow and steady wins the race!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work!!!
ReplyDeleteHope that your hands feel better soon...Meanwhile, catch up on reading and movie watdhing
ReplyDeleteOh, I just love the triangles!!
ReplyDeleteThe quilts are lovely, as always!! NOW TRY TO DO WHAT THE DOCTOR HAS TOLD YOU TO DO!!! You only get one set of hands....when they hurt not good~!! Use wrist splints at night that seems to help! Take care. GAIL
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful I love the straight stitching.
ReplyDeleteI love 'em. So fresh and fun. Sorry to hear about your hands. Hope the rest helps.
ReplyDeleteOK, what everyone else said, "do as you are told" so we can see more of your beautiful work, which BTW, I love the quilt, so much!!
ReplyDeleteOh, Jacquie. . .be sure to rest. Your hands are telling you to take a break. I hope you feel better soon. Your "little" projects are very cute!
ReplyDeleteHope your hand will be better soon and could 'dancing' on the sewing machine :)
ReplyDeleteBtw, I wanna say thanks. One of your quilt which has organic lines has inspired me to do so for my last project, but I was so afraid to start sewing the lines. Gee...
yeah, that looks like LOTS of rest there!!!! uh-huh....
ReplyDeletegirlfriend.
which part of R.E.S.T. did you miss??
Do I need to come up there and help you to follow doctor's orders??
Funny, I feel that way quite a bit these days. So you are in good company.
ReplyDeleteTime to rest now.
ReplyDeleteMaybe go read something inspirational. Or not. Something that won't make you go into the sewing room and try something else.
what beautiful pieces! i hope you can make yourself rest. you need your hands. you had better take care of them. :) i know all about it. i need to take my own advice and it's hard. to. do.
ReplyDeleteWe all need that slow down advice from time to time. But my gosh it is the end of July! Can time be speeding up as I age? Seriously. I made a quilt last weekend that I felt I was channeling Jacquie. I'll have to blog about it tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteit is very hard to take doctor's orders sometimes... but your hands are very important!!
ReplyDeleteLove the pink/orange combo. Get some rest!
ReplyDeleteYour quilts are so beautiful. I love the colours. I hope you are okay.
ReplyDeleteI love the quilting on these..., but you should be good and listen now... I hope your hands will be better soon.
ReplyDeletethat is some gorgeous quilting skill! Now, rest those hands :)
ReplyDeleteJust discovered you and will definitely be back!
ReplyDeleteI love the straight line quilting. So simple, and so wonderful
Love these quilts, Jacquie! I'm especially interested in the thread you used to quilt the second one. Is it my imagination or does it change color from one fabric to the next?? [It's either that, or you are the world's best "starter/stopper"!] Can you tell me more about it? And I hope that your hands are better now. I had a bad scare about two years ago with the tendon in my wrist that moves my thumb. I had to completely stop knitting (and most anything else) AND get a cortisone shot. So far [knock on wood], it seems to have gone away. I truly hope yours has, too.
ReplyDeletePS. Thanks for the gorgeous photos and the tutorials. I really enjoy them!
