Two Times Tula!

Sometimes the stars align and the moon really is in the 7th house...at least it was for me this week. On Sunday, Shea and I drove out to the Quilt Shoppe in Stewartsville, MO. (Thanks for driving, Shea!) It's a bit of a drive from KC, but so worth the trip. It's the home of the fabulous Tula Pink and owned by her mom (who, by the way is pretty great too.) Ms. Pink happened to be in residence on Sunday and we talked and shopped. The best part might have been seeing her quilts in person. The girl can make a quilt and we all know she can design fabric!
If that wasn't enough, the three of us met again later in the week at another fabric store in Lawrence. Some serious shopping happened for all of us. Between the two stores I picked up some pretty fabulous finds. Under and behind a few other bolts, I found these...ladybugs to die for. Sorry, I bought every inch they had.
Sarah's Fabrics in Lawrence actually has a few prints of the Neptune line...it may be the only store in the country that has those. I got my fav print that may work with some Salvador Dali-like fabric I found.
Kathy, Tula's mom, found me some fat quarters of Full Moon Forest. EEEEK! The stars truly aligned for me.
To top it all off we had lunch together and chatted design, fabric, and kids over gourmet burgers and truffle fries. Yep, I said truffle fries.
On top of all that, my niece's graduation gift is finished. I love this set. I think she will too. My finish number is growing...still working like a dog here. Lots left to do!!

  8. Love the set for your niece. It turned out very well. Nice fabrics as well, though I thought the lady bug was were like little aliens heads or something at first glance. Then I looked at it again and read your description and finally saw how it's a ladybug :P.

  9. I have never seen the ladybugs in any other color than the brown background with the green ladybugs. I will have to look and see if they have any of the other colors at Miller's Dry Goods in Charm Ohio this weekend when I work the anniversary sale. The other colors would be great to have in my stash for baby quilts. The graduation present - it is all to pretty to even think about using! Beautiful job!
