Advantages:
1. You turn into the cleaning fairy....bathrooms sparkle, a spotless studio (every piece of fabric has been refolded and stacked).
2. Lady beetles lose their battle (at least we're at a stalemate). Every year we battle Japanese beetles...they look like lady bugs, but they're actually the evil twins. With no internet, I have time to wield my vacuum hose and relentlessly suck those little buggers into oblivion.
3. You take advantage of 70 degree weather in Kansas in November and rid the front porch of mildew....while I was at it I painted all of the trim on the porch.
4. You actually have time to take a day off and bum around the city and buy fabulous fabric. The cuts above are Liberty of London fabric from Betsy's shop in Westport, Bon Bon Atelier. Have you ever felt Liberty fabric? To DIE for. Betsy has an online store in case you want to have that experience for yourself. I'm making Christmas gifts with these. Lauren tells me that if you're making gifts, the fabric purchase doesn't count. I believe her.
5. You actually hang the curtains that have been sitting waiting to grace the windows in the great room. I have curtains for the first time in 15 years.
Disadvantages
1. You're disconnected, cut off, out of the loop. ARRG!
Hopefully the problem is solved and I'll be back to normal around here. Wouldn't want to be blinded by sparkling bathrooms, now would we?
Got an extra minute, today? Check this out. Katie is destashing some of her out of print fabrics. She's got some great stuff in there!
To my "quilter butt" friends. The giveaway will be tomorrow! It's nice to be connected again!
Oooh, those fabrics are yummy. Glad you're reconnected again!
ReplyDeleteWow, sounds quite productive! But, welcome back. Lovely fabric stack. I've never felt Liberty...
ReplyDeleteI could use a bit of that productivity! I have had the pleasure of fondling some real-life Liberty (as opposed to Target Liberty boxer shorts) and it is scrumptious! The prints you chose are beautiful. I look forward to the new year when you can show us what you made with them.
ReplyDeleteToo funny! I do think sometimes how much i would get done without the internet. But then again _ wouldn't have all the great inspiration I have!
ReplyDeleteI think my husband would love for the internet to go out for a few days. Even better for him - my sewing machine to get some kind of flu. I should go out and do the first round of leaf raking, but...nah. I have sewing and blog reading to do! I have teenagers that can do that stuff....
ReplyDeleteHey, at least you got stuff done!
ReplyDeleteI washed, spackled and caulked my windows this week -- maybe this warm weather has us thinking it's SPRING????
Fantastic fabrics!
So glad you are back! Great the good weather coincided with your internet loss...
ReplyDeleteIf I had no internet AND no job, I might be as productive as you... sigh. The job - but definitely not the internet haha - just takes up way too much of my time (but my husband won't let me "retire" at 40).
ReplyDeleteAnd that's right - fabric bought for Christmas gifts doesn't count. You are in the clear!
You made great use of your time. Sometimes it is good to be unplugged.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you back!!
ReplyDeleteloooove Liberty fabrics!!!!
Red lady bugs are good luck, orange lady bugs are evil twins and bite. Japanese beetles however look like beetles and are greenish in color but are also evil. we only like red lady bugs. The orange one came from Purdue university.FYI
ReplyDeleteBenefits of making gifts... you might usually pay $20+ to buy the person a gift, so buying 1/2m of a more expensive fabric you wouldn't normally buy and using a fraction of it = more pretty stash for you too!! :D
ReplyDeleteI know I've noticed it. I've bought some pretty asian fabrics this year for gifts and only used the smallest amount. Now I'm wondering what to make for myself out of them.
Isn't it amamzing what we get done when not on the computer.. But it gets lonely. That fabric is wonderous!
ReplyDeleteHi, I'm new to Blogland, what a fantastic place to while away a coffee-break. Liberty fabrics are fantastic, so luxurious and great to work with, they make up into clothing really well. My married daughter lives in London and for my last birthday she took me to Liberty's shop to buy fabric.Absolutely Magic.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back. Isn't it amazing how much we actually get done when the internet is down? Of course, that's in between those trips to the computer to check it hasn't come back up again yet. LOL
ReplyDeleteI do know that frustration and nope, not much fun but, you're right about how sparkly clean the house becomes.
Your silence was deafeningly sad
ReplyDeleteThat fabric is irresistible!
