I had some assistance from the wind during the photo session!I'm pretty excited to quilt this one and there's a companion on the way too. I'm working on patterns for both.
I have some giveaway winners too. I'm glad you all liked War of Art...truly an inspiring read.
I drew two winners from the commenters and two more from my list of Quilter Butt participants. The winners from the comments are:
Brenda who said, Amen, sister! I find I can rationalize lots of stuff, but when I go out and just do it, the results are amazing. Like yesterday, I spent several hours making Christmas gifts and finished a whole bunch. It didn't take a lot of time, just a can-do attitude. thanks for a chance at your giveaway.
Rachel's Quilts who said, I think I need to read that book. Thanks for the push to get up and do something this morning.
and the other winners are Krista of Spotted Stone and Sara of A Pirates Bounty. Drop me an email and we can talk about a custom fabric bundle just for you!
In other news, Kajsa's blog tour for her new book, Scandinavian Stitches starts today. Be sure to check out all the stops and come back here on Wednesday for a chance to win her fabulous book. It's a must buy!
I love it! It reminds me of a rubik's cube.
ReplyDeleteVery Cool! It's beautiful. You should totally sell the pattern - I would buy it!

ReplyDeleteFantastic quilt!
ReplyDeleteSo awesome!
ReplyDeleteHow appropriate for your boys!
ReplyDeleteawesome for your son! reminds me of Mondrian too
ReplyDeleteWow, Jacquie, that's amazing! I love the way the colors just blaze out of the backing - which looks black or navy on my computer. My husband loves it too, which means we may have something similar show up around here!
ReplyDeleteJacquie - I'm thinking what a fabulously bold, graphic, modern quilt! I loved your modern conundrum post and I've been pondering it ever since. This quilt certainly meets David Keeps' definition as your quilt strikes me as a forward-thinking take on a traditional Amish quilt: the geometry is a very different take on their typical square blocks and the colours are as vibrant. It is elegant in its simplicity and striking in its colour and balance. It moves the eye along the quilt and it feels joyful, even though it has so much black.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on creating such a beautiful quilt.
Cheers! Kathleen
This is a great quilt. I love the pattern and the colors.
ReplyDeleteWonderfully bold and uber modern!
ReplyDelete(The last shot of the quilt reminds me of Pojagi... very lovely!)
Jacquie this is a stunning quilt - I love it and am looking forward to seeing it's companion
ReplyDeleteStunning! A perfect teen quilt!
ReplyDeleteWOW, how cool! The last pic reminds me of a rubics (sp.) cube with all the colors and the 4 small squares on the right.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely wonderful! I love the colors and the different sized squares and rectangles. Can't wait to see the companion piece!
ReplyDeleteJaxon wants to know if this was inspired by Darth Vader. Actually, he said, "Is that Dark Vader."
ReplyDeleteLOVE your new quilt - can't wait to see it's companion. I love the way it was blowing in the wind too :)
ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous. I am eager to see the quilting.
ReplyDeleteOoh! I'm in love with solids right now. I took a class in Houston all about the use of color in Amish quilts and it was really enlightening.
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous work! It must be great having men in your life encouraging you. That has to be great for the creative soul. Keep up the inspiring work.
ReplyDeleteI just bought Scandinavian Stitches...I wasn't familiar with her blog, but it's a sweet little book!
ReplyDeleteNow this is a "modern" quilt. Thank god to see someone in this movement leave the white behind. Lovely forward thinking work.
