Today's holiday gift idea is brought to you by Mr. Bruno. Bru looked up at me this morning and with those irresistible eyes told me that I needed some time and he needed some too. Time for myself.
Bruno is wise. Taking time for yourself, to exercise, to pamper yourself, to breathe is not only a gift to yourself, it's a gift to those around you. You're better when you take care of yourself.
I can work a 15 hour day without blinking, but it takes a loving pet to remind me to take a few minute for myself. We walked the property together and enjoyed an owl in flight and two deer in the back pasture. I took time to enjoy the frost on the prairie grasses. I'll have a better day because of it.
Take it from Bruno, give yourself a gift this holiday season.
Excellent advice Jacquie!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking that you have a wise dog indeed ... glad to hear you took the time walk with Bruno and enjoy nature. That's something I need to do more of. My dog died a few years ago (she was 14 and such a love) and I haven't been able to get back into the habit of taking a walk.
ReplyDeleteI'll do it today tho, thanks.
Thanks, Bruno...I needed that reminder! :o)

Bruno is one smart black lab. My Max is now 6 years old and he is starting to get a white beard.
ReplyDeleteBruno is very smart. I've had people make fun of me and my bubble bath each night. Sometimes it's the only time for me. Dogs are the best!
ReplyDeleteTell Bruno 'thank you' from me for that great advise. I'll heel to his command!
ReplyDeletewise indeed! Thanks for the well-needed reminder
ReplyDeleteBruno is so wise. I hope you always listen to him.
ReplyDeleteJacquie - as always - wise words. I took myself to the bookstore today, treated myself to a $5 coffee and a quilting book that I've been eyeing for a month. I was in a bad mood when I woke up today and when I thumbed through the pages of all those books and poured over every photo - oh man, it's what I needed. Taking time for myself is so good, not only for me, but for the 4 people, 2 dogs and 1 cat that rely on me everyday to be me. Thanks, J.!
ReplyDeleteMaybe Bruno needs to come here for a visit. Sometimes it is REALLY hard to take that time and get out. I did take time for ME today but it was the kind of me time where I meet a couple of friends at a coffee shop. Not all ME time. IT was good for my mind but not so good for my body.
ReplyDeleteOh, he is a sweetie and wise to boot.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you listened to him with your ears, eyes and heart.
Take care...follow his advice and call him in the morning!
What a sweet face...and you can tell that there is a wise man behind those eyes. Glad you took time for yourself and Bruno today.

Without those times with my dogs, my life would be unbearable.
ReplyDeleteThey are my shadows and my heart.
glen: even the ones in Doggy Heaven. I miss them every day.
I'm a mental health therapist, and at one of my jobs (doing an emotional health group for teens in rehab), I talked about what dogs can teach us about happiness. And, of course, I brought my Corgi, Ember Louise, to make the case!
ReplyDeleteJust found you and you have some very sound advice on your blog - partic the bit about maintaining your momentum. I know what you say but it's putting it into practice that defeats me. I will try though because it could make me a better sewist.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jacquie and your very dear Bruno, for the sage advice!
ReplyDeleteI've gotta say it... Bruno is cute!
ReplyDelete:)
My son (almost 20 mos. old) reminds me of the same things as Bruno...to savor life and see all things with new and fresh eyes... BUT he doesn't leave much time for myself. ;)
Such a lovely reminder, Bruno! what a wise mama you have...
ReplyDeleteThank you Bruno - for the perfect advice!
ReplyDeleteAren't dogs the best reminders of this?
ReplyDeletelove this post.
Oh Bruno!! We love you!
