Publishing a book is a long process from initial idea through execution and finally publication. The process is much like having a baby except with a very long labor. It's a milestone in my life and an event worth celebrating. As my wise husband said, "It's time you sit down and enjoy this a bit." As usual, he's right!
Katie and I weren't much for the idea of a traditional blog tour that stretches out forever and you hear the same thing over and over, so we opted for something a little different. Each of you have been a part of our journey and we'd like to celebrate with our blog friends, so we're having a virtual party and you are invited! I'm calling it the 'Quilting Modern Blog Blast!" A team of talented sewers and quilters are attending and we hope you'll join in. You'll find out all the details next week, so for now mark your calendars for June 1 - 3 as party time!
The party starts Friday, June 1 with tours of Katie's and my studios and continues all weekend. So for now, save the date, stock up on your favorite beverages and snacks. Attire is casual...I'll be wearing my favorite pj's and I'm thinking balloons and confetti poppers might be required at my house.
In the meantime I've made a couple of miniature versions of quilts in the book. This is a version of the "Add It Up" quilt.
I had some of the strip piecing leftover, so I made another version of the Fiesta quilt.
These quilts are going to some lucky person in the Chicago area. I'm having an in person celebration at The Needle Shop in the Bucktown neighborhood very close to where I live. I'll be displaying quilts and signing books. Everyone who brings in a book or purchases a book has a chance to take home one of these quilts. I'm so looking forward to celebrating with my new Chicago friends and meeting new folks in the Chicago sewing and quilting community. Chicago peeps, Saturday, June 9 from 2:00 to 6:00 is the date and time. I so hope to see you there for treats, quilts and conversation. If you haven't checked out The Needle Shop for fabric shopping, it's going to be a treat. I adore this shop and have added to my stash because of Rachel's exquisite taste in fabric. They're also the most helpful folks!
Got the dates on your calendar? I can't wait!!

I am excited that I just bought the book today while in KC at BonBon. I'm looking forward to using it!
I'm sorry that I'm out of town that weekend. I would love to meet you and see your quilts in person.
I agree with your husband. Enjoy this time. What an awesome achievement
Wowee!!! What great gifts - love them! I will be there but our guild's quilt show is that weekend so I'll be signing in late - don't shut the front doors 'til I get there!
wish i were in the area on June 1-3, maybe i should send my nephew???
June 9th, not June 1-3, either date I won't be there, boo-hoo.
I will be there! Oh, happy day!! To say I'm excited about this is a wee bit of an understatement...
Oh that all sounds like so much more fun than a normal blog hop book tour! :)

Congratulalations!!
Sounds like the party is one not to be missed!!
Great quilt. I need to get some of that bias strip fabric for my stash.
Just to let you know your book has made it's way to New Zealand - where I love it. If you ever want to do a book signing out here... we've got a spare bed!
I am gonna try and be there Jacquie!
Marking my calendar, Jacquie. Excited to see what you and Katie have in store for us. So happy for you both and want to congratulate you on your book. I'm looking forward to have my own copy to sit back and savour. Thanks for sharing your talents with us!
Love this book. Had a hard time deciding what to make first and I rarely just follow a pattern -- always tweak it somehow. But I did the Sardinia runner -- the pods!!! love 'em!! http://www.flickr.com/photos/cathyagent/sets/72157630047378994/
A very literal translation and I love how it turned out. Next I think I may do some take on the MODTV.
