Starting and Finishing

Thanks so much for joining me to celebrate 100 posts. If you haven't dropped by the party, check out the previous post. I'm sure there is still cake!
Finally finished block 6 for the Seeing Stars quilt-a-long at Crazy Mom Quilts. This is my 3rd try. I finally had to pin each triangle and sew it on my mom's Bernina to get it right. Don't know what happened to me except over confidence bit me in the !@#$ if you know what I mean. This one is the right size and much better. I may make pillows out of the other two!

Here is a peek at something I've been working on. Couldn't stop thinking about this pattern after I saw this quilt. Plus, I obviously need additional triangle practice.

As I said in the last post I've connected with a bunch of really great quilters. One of them I actually had the pleasure of meeting. Becky of As The Quilts Turn emailed a month or so ago and asked if I might be interested in attending a guild meeting with her. I'm not much of a joiner, but I was touched by her willingness to extend an invitation, so I did. I was also pretty curious about who might be on the other side of the keyboard. She couldn't have been nicer. The best part was getting to meet her and talking quilting together. She showed two quilts, but only one picture was good enough to share. She made this cute I spy quilt. I loved seeing the quilts that the guild members made. Such variety and craftmanship. Thanks Becky!

Love the fabric you've used for the quiltalong, I decided to join in and made the first three blocks today. Your hourglass fabrics look very bright and cherry. Meeting bloggers is so much fun, did you decide to join the guild?

I'm always curious about the folks on the other side of the keyboard, too. Glad you got a chance to meet someone! I really like the quilt you gave us a peek of -- the fabrics are terrific!

That is going to be such a pretty quilt! I am a little partial to those fabrics because I used two of them to make totebags! One for a swap and one for my mother-in-law. http://audreypawdrey.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html

One more is in my stash for a future purpose.
Your quilt block turned out well! Mine has errors and I am deciding whether I should redo it as well.

I met a fellow blogger a few weeks back, Stacy (I think you won her giveaway!) and it was wonderful - we went to a quilt show together and I made a new friend. Glad to see you had a success story too!

I too was inspired by the same quilt! I love the fabrics that you are using - very fun. I haven't done any hourglass yet but I hope to soon. . . =)

The triangles will get easier and more accurate the more you make, so hang in there. You could save all of the rejects for a wonky quilt where you purposely cut the block down at an angle to a chosen size.

Love those triangle quilts and your fabrics are WOW!
I’ve had problems making block 6 as well... It’s still slightly smaller... I don’t know how, because everything is stitched at 1/4".. and cur at the right sizes..

Your star is so beautiful! But it must have been a very frustrating process..

Now you've done it, you've made me want to make an hour glass quilt, too. Yours sure looks great. I also wanted to tell you that I really like the picture on your heading. Very beautiful.

That is great that you joined a guild. I love mine and have been a member for roughly two years. My favorite type of meeting is a show and tell because of course you get loads of fabulous ideas.

I was going to tell you at the begining of this post- how I love that you choose such calming colors for quilts- but then you had the really fun and bright pinka nd black one in the middle. But guess what- I still love that one too. So great choices- all around the color board.
