I signed up for the bookmark swap at IbbyBee. I thought it would be a fun way to use scraps and maybe try a few new techniques. Here are the three I created for my partner. The first is made from selvages. I'm so hooked. I'm never throwing away another selvage! The second is made with a vintage linen that has the tiniest crosstitch work and the back is a vintage sheet. The third is some Katie Jump Rope fabric and I made a pocket to fit this cool antique table knife that I found this weekend at one of my fav vintage stores in KC, Good JuJu. The knife is flat as a pancake and has an interesting pattern on the handle. I pieced the back with some more Katie Jump Rope and some Amy Butler dots. I used Peltex to make it stiffer to hold the knife. I have to find a vintage book to include in my package and I'm still working on that. Not sure what I was thinking signing up for swaps in August...it's a crazy busy month. I hope my partner likes what I've made for her. It was fun lurking on her blog and snooping.
I've been struggling with my machine over the last couple of days. It started skipping stitches. Spent a couple of hours last night taking it apart, cleaning, putting back together, changing needles, fussing with the tension. I've never had a bit of trouble with it before. So far so good. I can't live without it...I'm talking nicer to her these days...maybe that will keep her happy!

How cute. I love little projects that give me instant gratification. You need it between quilts.

*thumbs up* Awesome job!
Adorable! Do you have any filler between the front and back?
Bookmarks are such a great idea -- useful and quick. And in this case, fun!
Now that's a swap I would have loved! LOVE BOOKs!!! Aren't selvedges everywhere. My daughter has been collecting mine for a while. I never throw them away. Your selvedge book mark is my most favorite!!!

I joined the swap too, and have made one so far. I need to get cracking!
thanks for the visit and the kind words. Best to you, Ellen.
Beautiful book marks. You might be able to double the cad stock to make it thicker. It is definitely cheaper. Thanks for visiting my blog.
Okay, I never would've thought of using the selvages! I love that bookmark and have to copy it! Thanks so much for the idea, as I always hate throwing things away.
Great book marks! Love the idea of a bookmark swap - quick little projects.

Fantastic....now that is different
I love the selvage one too!!! Since most of you reading this probably sew, I will trust you to not think I'm neurotic -- but so often when I use a piece of fabric I decide where I'm going to cut based on keeping the pretty selvage text and color dots intact. Now I know what to do with them. You are just too creative!
Loving that selvage bookmark.
Lovely - but I am so glad that my gut reaction was "not for me." All I need is another thing to do...
These are so lovely.
Glad your machine is working better - it's realy awful being without a machine!
