Smile, It's Monday!

As I was slogging through sewing triangles together for this quilt, fussing with pressing little seams open and dealing with the frustrations I feel with precision piecing, I took a little break and headed to Ellen's blog, growing gills. Ellen's is one of those blogs I head to first. She's not a quilter in the traditional sense. She quilts with words and pictures. She inspires me, and this morning she reminded me to look around and again count my blessings. There is beauty around me, I am blessed in so many ways. I abandoned my feelings of frustration and started again refreshed. I plan to have the top pieced by the end of the day.

When I'm finished I'm going to reward myself with some time to play with scraps from these pillows. I think they might turn into something for the kitchen.

So, what's putting a grin on your face today?

Love your decoration. So different and cool.
What makes me smile today?

-Seeing the witch costume for my sister on my sewing table, all cut out and ready to sew.

-Kitchen floor freshly mopped after the messy weekend.

-6 piles of laundry, sorted, stains treated, and ready to go.

-Seeing fall leaves out the window.

This is hard. I don't like Mondays. I am looking forward to tonight - big plans on sewing. Otherwise I have to agree with Alissa. Yep, I am at work too.
Can't wait to see pics of that quilt.

I love Mondays. It always feels like a fresh new start, making plans for the rest of the week and still hoping to have the chance to achieve them...

Love the decorations. There is more to be thankful for than complain about that is for sure. I've grateful for the little strawberry fabric squares you gave me. I worked on them this weekend and they are turning into a couryard steps quilt. I love the red and white. It makes me smile.

Life has been a bit hectic lately and creative time has taken a back seat. However I am smiling today because I finally felt some new creative inspiration yesterday. (I will be smiling more when I finally get a chance to actually sew!)

Mondays to me are always a new begining. That's the day I always start something new. A quilt, a diet, spring cleaning, etc....Smiles.

I just love your decorations, I used to decorate a lot when the kids were small but not so much anymore. A few pumkins, and a wreath that's it.

Good luck on that quilt, and can't wait to see it.

You are putting a grin on my face, that is for sure. Thank you for such kind and generous words. You are definitely part (a big part) of my looking up, down and around. I am truly blessed by your presence in my life (tho. it is far away and not truly "here"..it is truly here for me.)

I like Mondays. I'm smiling about having a studio full of other quilters today who are as enthusiastic as I am.

Thanks for the link to Growing Gills. She certainly does have some beautiful photos.

I do have a grin on my face! I love Mondays at home. I've been scrapping most of the day and took a nap and watched a DVD with my husband as we drank mugs of hot vanilla Chai with low-fat whipped cream and cinnamon.

I'm also grinning at your Halloween tree. It's so cute!! As are those spooky characters.

Enjoy your week,
Joni

I meant to tell you how much I like Steely log cabin quilt! Loved the assymetrical-ness of it and it's so modern and masculine, too--really nice!

I like mondays.... I like having a quiet house, getting some work done... I love the weekends, I love spending the days with Charles and the children, but I also love having time to work. I guess to me, being a mom means being a little torn between my prof. ambition and my ambitions as a mom... Really, I would like to stay at home! But then I think it's important to show my children, that mom works too -and dad helps do the laundry the cooking the cleaning etc... Torn.
But I guess that's why I'm smiling on monday, because I just had a great weekend, and now I have time to work!
