If The World Stood Still

Do you wish sometimes that you could make the rest of the world stand still and you'd busily catch up with all the things on your list? Jodie posted about her list in only the way Jodie can. I'm a list maker too and sometimes I feel just like her, that my head is going to explode with all the things running around in there trying to get out, trying to prioritize themselves, trying desperately to get done. I make lists so that things don't get lost in there. Sometimes it even works.

I've been a busy bee so far this week. Hubby is in Chicago all week. I miss him terribly, but his absence does give me a bit more time to sew. I've been working on a couple of secret projects. Sorry I can only give a sneak peak. This first one will have a pattern and tutorial later in the spring. I made one for myself as a trial run. I'm loving it. This one is for someone special.
Again, apologies, another secret project....this one is turning out too. The quilting fairy seems to be smiling on me this week.
The heart blocks are coming along. The red ones are ready to become hearts. The pink ones are just about there too. I thought at first this would be one quilt...now I think it might be two. I'm still playing with ideas for these.
Ever seen a hundred hearts? I'm still cutting....oh dear...these are a secret too.
Lastly, I'm caught up on my virtual quilting bee commitments. Fabric sets were piling up...I was getting a bit stressed; I hate when things are late, so I did a quilt block marathon. The top two are Alissa's blocks for January, bottom left is Jenny's for January, and I even did Stefanie's for February. When an idea hits, you just need to go for it! Don't these ladies know how to pick fabric! They are all so different, but all gorgeous!
My mom's machine is in the shop, so I'm back to my trusty Singer. That means no quilting this week. That means my goal for finishing 2008 tops has to be put on hold. I have been quilting away...three are basted and in progress. So many more to go. I've been trying to hold back with starting new projects...now I have an excuse....I'm off to sew.

PS...blog friends...I'm working my way through reading my blog list....I haven't been able to get the list under 500 posts. Could you hold up on posting while I catch up? I know...you have lots to say and share, and I hate to miss out. A little patience, please?

Oh, and I have 3 awards to acknowledge and pass on...I'm working on it...it's harder when you actually try to pass them on. If only the world stood still...

exactly right! my expression back in the young child mom days was: could we just put them in a freezer for 24 hours? then I could do....whatever it was that was so challenging with little ones "helping". not much different currently, except no children in the house and I still wish time would stand still-so your post was perfect to read this morning! I have stacks of must get done, due immediately type projects and so much more clamoring in my head! glad to have some company in the same boat!

Be careful what you wish for...I thought the same thing earlier in the week. Then we got hit with a big winter storm and are without power! It IS as if the world is standing still...

Luckily my parent live about an hour away and still have power. We stayed with them last night and Charlie and I are headed home this afternoon to check on the house. The ETA on power is Sunday, so I think I will be bringing my machine back with me. ;-)

I so wish that time stopped for me too at times :) you'll get there - I make lists too just so things aren't pestering me in my head. your projects look really fun! All those hearts cut up are so sweet - have a good Thursday :)

i have those days often as well. i have found the most helpful thing for me is to look at my massive list and weed out the things i feel like are "have to dos" but are really "really WANT to dos" or "would really like to dos". it has actually been really freeing. i put a lot of pressure to accomplish a lot of things (especially on the weekends), but it really makes it more stressful for me. soi may not get as many things done, but i find that i really enjoy the stuff i do a lot more. and is really all that matters, right? i hope you get to "catch up" soon. :)

I love what you are making even if I don't know what they are going to be. When you take your photos do you have a light box? Your photos always look so great I would love to know your secret.

Have a Happy Thursday.

The quilting fairy has certainly sprinkled her fairy dust on you! You have been a busy lady. I love everything that you are working on. Well at least the little peeks at them. I can't wait to see them in all their glory and a tutorial too! Keep wishing for more of that magic from the quilting fairy.

Exactly! How I wish there were more hours in the day. It doesn't matter how early I get up and how late I go to bed, I still don't get it all done. Sigh.

I'm wondering what you're going to do with your cute "old quilt" hearts.

Always lots of pretties to see on your blog Jacquie!

I know exactly how you feel. I woke up at 2 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep thinking about all I need to do. I hate when that happens cause then I'm to tired to do it all the next day. Loved all the peaks at your projects. Lots of fun things in the works at your house.

Everything is beautiful...I especially love the "marshmallowy" goodness of those hearts. I just want to reach out and touch them.
I myself make few lists since I retired. My favorite modus operandi is to write it down and check it off AFTER I have done it! Twee!!

I am a list maker too! I'd be lost without them, and sometimes with them! I don't know what those hearts are going to be but I love them!

An intriguing look at some sneaky projects Jackie. Absolutely love those little 'pinked' hearts. Wonder how you'll use them. From one list maker to another, I know exactly how you feel about not having enough hours in a day to get things done. "Sew many quilts, sew little time"...lol

I have been a bit frustrated for the last 2 weeks, as there is just more things to do in a day then hours to do them, but at least I am never bored, right!? Looking forward to seeing what all of your sneak peaks here turn out to be!

Oh yeah, the idea that january is almost gone... it drives me crazy. All those lists don’t work for me, they hunt me at night!

Love every picture in your post Jacquie, so much goodness to look at!

I hope you’ll have a lovely weekend with your husband back home. Reading about you missing him during the week makes me feel less lonely!

Look at all that loveliness! I can't wait to see the end result. I also wish I could stop the world and finish up things and then hit play when I am all caught up.

Feeling the same way....there must be something in the air. I've been frantically writing things down, and then losing my lists. and then starting over with a new list only to misplace that too. My goodness, am I loving all your secret projects, they are putting me in the mood to get started on my improv project! A whole lot of eye candy in this post!!

I love the hearts cut with the pinking shears. Can't wait to see what you use those for. And your blocks for the swaps are so clean and classy...perfect!

As I said to Belinda - I hate/love sneak peeks. These gave me a headache - nearly - trying to figure out what they were. The hearts are sooo cute!

MightyMom said...

when you figure out how to make it stand still you better let me know so I can catch up while it's stopped too!!

My posts have been few and far between for this week so there you go! :-) I didn't do goals on Tues, Wed Hero and am just NOW (late Fri night) doing Thesaurus Thursday...I got sick and my week got away from me. ug.

Leanne said...

I think you are amazing with what you accomplish. I am with you we should have a world wide post free week just for a few of us to catch up.

Eileen said...

Jacquie.. I just have to smile.. because you sound so much like me. I just wish I could tell everyone to stop posting blogs for a week until I can get caught up . There are so many. What did we do before we had these Readers that we had to keep up on??
Anyways. I love all your projects going on. But my hand hurts just thinking of cutting all those vintage quilt hearts with a pinking shears.. youch!

I do wish time is still too for a while, this time of year for me is so busy, trying to fit sewing in with decorating and getting garden ready for spring planting,

Love the red and white fabric

Take care
