Quilting...art or craft?

This woman knows of what she speaks.

Gotta love her. I'm with you Mary!

There's more from and about Mary (and lots of other great stuff) on the Alliance site if you're interested.

I consider quilting my craft and the quilts I make my art.

I am Arizona; a person, not a place. said...

I love that interview! She's a feisty lady (with whom I agree completely)!

What a cutie! So spunky. I would consider quilts art. No questions asked.

Sorry for my english and the fact that it's very hard to me to write this language.
Thank you for this wonderful thread and the way to answer to a clever question.
I put a thread to your post on my own blog and I hope you'll not be upset about that.
Sincerely
Catherine

Can't wait to click over and read that. I consider quilting both an art and a craft.

Throughly enjoyable, thanks for sharing this, Jacquie!
I look forward to watching her other video clips, as I love her spunk and enthusiasm! Personally I have always been put off by the need to box things into art or craft, especially since craft always takes a back seat. What does it really matter as long as it lifts the spirit, inspires or gives pause for reflection.

I love Mary Schafer's comment. From the first time I saw the beautiful of a quilt, I always considered it as an art piece whether it's made by an artist or just an ordinary people or housewife. thanks for sharing this !

That's one smart woman. I with her Art is whatever the arts says it. If I say a quilt is art it's art if you say it craft then it's craft. But what is a craft but an art. So you the crafter or artist can decide.

Hi I'm popping in (nosing around) fellow Time For Tea Swappers.

Your hearts are so beautiful. I loved the box of paper heart "loves". Those are an excellent idea for Valentine's Day.

I think we can learn a lot from those older and more experienced.

I have taken out a book about her quilts several times from the library. I never get tired of reviewing her work. She said it best!
It was nice to hear her voice.
