Card People

We're card people...an occasion requires the perfect card...usually multiple cards. Some are bought in stores...some are scribbled on whatever paper can be found. It's something I love about my husband and a tradition we have passed to our boys. All 3 of my boys treated me with cards that touched my heart.
These are from my hubby....

That's me, of course, in the middle of my favorite Mother's Day activity.

These flowers will last forever...aren't they beautiful?

I've managed one small finish so far in May. It took me longer than expected because I experimented with some curvy quilting...I like the look, but I need to tweak the idea a bit to make it work for other pieces.

End of the school year is such a busy time. I have made a list though...that's as far as I've gotten.

I spent the weekend cooking French toast for a bunch of teens in pajamas and I was the "entertainment" at the local Mother/Daughter banquet on Saturday night. I did a trunk show and talked about improvisational quilting. My mom was there. It was a great way to honor my mom and share with others what she has passed on to me. My niece was there too. It was my first time sharing my work with the public in that way. I could have talked for days....every quilt has a story, you know. I talked about all of you too.

Have a great week!

What a great weekend! Talking about quilts is just about the most fun you can have with your clothes on. Yipee! I like the curvy quilting you did. It absolutely has interesting potential. Happy quilting!

Love the colors and the simple design to show case the center fabric on this quilt. What size is it?

Those cards are so nice! I really like the curvy quilting that you did. Looking at your work is really inspirational to me! And looking at the piece you posted today, I see how something that uses a focus fabric and is small is just as beautiful.

I would have loved to have been at your Trunk show! No doubt you will have inspired some of the younger generation to try their hand at quilting. Love the curved quilting design you have done on your baby quilt - very effective!

Ahhh we are card people too, my husband hides them for me to come across throughout the day. I look forward to it every holiday!

I'm loving the fresh and outside-the-box nature of your work, the curves are very cool.

p.s. what colour thread did you use to quilt this? I couldn't quite tell from the image.

All of our family are Card People, too. It's a lot of fun. Now that G'kids are a bit older they are learning to make them. It's a good thing to pass down.

Love how the curvy lines look in your quilt. The cards are fabulous. Hey when we have a finish are we to let you know. If so I've had two. Thanks for the motivation.

the cards you received are pieces of artwork Jacquie! I'm glad you had a good mother's day weekend!

kinda of frightening to think what you might say about me! hahaha.

good for you. I'm now sure if I'm gonna get any finishes this month. What I'm working on is too time consuming to be done in one month...but I usually make each step a "finish" for myself..so I may post those as they come up.

thanks for the prayers, fear not, Subvet's been banned from my blog from here on out. ;-)

I love the curvy quilting. I think I need to get more experimental with my quilting and get very familiar with my trusty seam ripper lol. I have a to do list on my blog for my finishes, and am proud to say that I have three down already! It's got some pretty lofty goals, but at least now I'm trying to work towards them with a little inspiration!

What lovely cards...Dhubby did good!!
I would have loved to been in the group you talked to and showed your quilts....*LOL*...I could 'quilt' talk non stop too!
I so admire your 'curvy' quilting!! It reminds me of the one I am 'still' hand quilting with the concentric circles. CURVES RULE!!!

Happy Belated Mothers Day. I love those cards, DH is so thoughtful!

I know how the end of the school year can be crazy and we are still in Jr. High! But only 17 more days here!

I love the curved quilting by the way!

Wow, how cool that you were "the entertainment"!! Wish I could have been there - I love your work.

Speaking of which, I love your little baby quilt. Again, so spare in design, and yet just right. I like the curvy quilting too. Very cool!

We're "card people" too. We love to make our own cards and other paper crafts. (it's faster than quilting!)
