This is the guest room in our new home. I'm slowly getting rooms arranged and things in their place. I love the comforter on this bed....there's this empty wall between the two windows....so...
i started this. The red/orange flea market fancy barbells were the perfect fabric. I'm excited to get this done and hang it. Reminds me of burning embers, those last, glowing remnants of a bonfire.
I love this room for another reason, the floor. It's a recycled wood floor. We removed the floor boards from the old farmhouse that was originally on the property and installed them here. I stenciled this design. It's a little sad that the bed covers up most of the stenciling, but I know it's there and that's pretty cool.
I'm going to be doing a Frequently Asked Questions post to respond to your questions. So many of you who leave comments are 'no reply' bloggers. I'd love to answer your questions, so I'm going to try this. If you have a burning question, now's your chance. Ask away.

what a great color palette! Where's the comforter from?
It will look awesome together and I love the stencils.
That gorgeous floor caught my eye first thing, (even before the comforter!)
I noticed the floor in the top pic and wondered if it was inlay. Beautiful! The stenciling looks great. Can't wait to see the wall hanging. WHere are you finding the time to do all this?? Super woman!
I absolutely adore the floor stenciling!!
Oh ye of boundless energy. How do you do it? :)
Beautiful! I love your wonky log cabins!
My question: Do you still want more selvages?
I love your work!
My question(s): How did you first start doing improvisational quilting? Did something inspire you? how did you get the courage (maybe too strong of a word) to do your own thing and not rely on patterns?
I am so in love with that floor! Will you come over and stencil on my dining room floor? I also love the wall hanging and comforter together- your guests will be so lucky!
love those colors!
my question: how many hours per day you sewing?
Beautiful and inspiring. Thank you.
This floor is wonderful and I love the colour sheme of the roo.
Love those floors! what a neat history for them too. Your inspired piece looks really fab!
I love your floors. I really want wood floors and don't have them in this house. I also like the block you did, it does look like dying embers. The white really sets off the other fabrics. My mother always told me to plant some white azaleas in with colors and it would make the colors show up more.
I love the blocks where you did the staightline quilting! I'm doing my DD's right now that way, it's 85" long :o) My question is.. how are you going to put the blocks together? This may be easier than piecing the quilt and then straightline quilting the whole thing. I love your blog and read it every morning with my coffee and so do many of my quilt-y friend! I love your stenciled floor! I love wooden floors. The block is awsome!
You’re such an inspiration!
So my question: who inspired you to start quilting and who’s your inspiration these days?
Would you believe... my verification word is unwoodd!
i love the quilt!! the colors are perfect and i love the mixing of the patterns... square quilt with curvy bedding!
I absolutely love those colors and the stenciling on the floor is beautiful. How did you get it down so clearly without having "fuzzies" around the edge?
I was looking at the pic of the bed wondering WHAT IS ON THE FLOOR??
:-)
cool.
I'd love to know what you do (or what *I* could do) with a bunch of quilted squares like you have here:

How would you put those together in a quilt exactly?
I'm not into wall hangings...
I love the history of the stenciled floor Jacquie. It is too bad it's covered so much by the bed, but I guess the bed would be more comfortable to sleep on than the stenciling...... :)
WOW WEEEEEEEEE!!! Beautious!!! Love the comforter, your new creation, and the floors are unbelieveable;)
Really gorgeous.
What fun you must be having!!!
Love to see the stencil at your floor. Cool...
I bet if you had a guest house so it must be a really COOL and COMFORTABLE one :D
How do you schedule your days for maximum sewing time? Ypu get so much done!
Oooh, that quilt will be perfect. I LOVE your pretty stenciled floor!
Did you stencil before you put on a varnish but after the stain and what did you use? I just love it!
Did you make your own stencils?
My question: How did you get so gosh darned awesome?
That is a very cool floor. The coverlet fabric immediately made me think of fires as well, but it reminds me of the heart of the flame. Can't wait to see more about your gallery experience!
I love what you've done with this room. The floor is beautiful. Its fun to start all over again in a "new" house. I got to do that 6 years ago after being in the same house for 28 years.
i would like ro know more qbout your quilt show
I don't have a question, I just had to tell you how much I love your blog! It's a visual feast, and my dreams of quilting are able to be realized vicariously through you :)
Your colors remind me of the sunsets I saw while on a field assignment in El Paso, Tx. Absolutely breathtaking.
What a great room! I love the inspiration bedspread and the quilt to be. Your floor painting looks awesome too!
The colors of the room are fantastic, just yummy! But how cool is that floor? You continue to amaze me with your endless talents. I just love the whole idea of the stenciled floor.
LOVE that floor...and the whole room, really! I think it's a cool design element...having the stenciling sort of hidden and calling for attention. ;-)
Happy weekend to you, Jacquie!
OH my goodness, Jacquie! What a beautiful room! ANd I love that comforter!!!!
All of your quilts are fantastic? I'd like to know how you are doing that wavy zig zag quilting in the windows quilt? I actually thought that looked nice with the windows. I agree that more space between the windows would look better. I love your small applique quilts. Soooo cute. Good luck with the show.
What sewing tools do you use most often?
how are you doing? Is life getting a little easier and more fun as time goes on?
where do you usually get your fabric?
That's all for now....but there is more! LOl
Hi, just wanted to know where you got the comforter on the bed.
I asked before, but since this a question session, I thought I'd ask again.
Thanks!
