Show Time Again

The August opening reception for my quilt show is on Friday. I'm especially excited about this one because my youngest son, Jon will be providing the music. Live music, how great is that? Invitations went out last week. I can feel the nerves building again. I have lots of prep to do, so that will keep me busy. Busy is good.

Orange crush is finished. I have to decide if this one is going to be added to the show. I'm on the fence.
I do like the quilting though. Much harder to do than I expected.

**Meagan is recruiting to start another virtual quilting bee. She's got a site set up too. This girl is on it. If you'd like to participate, just head on over here and leave her a comment. Make sure you give her a way to get in touch with you. (email!)

Jacquie, I have to say I think straight line quilting is sometimes more difficult and more time consuming than free-motion. Your Orange Crush looks fantastic! Enjoy your exhibit.

Good Morning! Orange Crush is a "for sure"~well, I love it and think you should include it. I think it's so great Jon is providing your music~a family affair. Your announcements are very pretty!

Congrats! Having your son provide the music will make it all the more special. I love the invitations, they're very pretty.

I haven't tried straight lines for quilting, but I can see that it would be more difficult than stippling or meandering. That's all I've tried so far.

I think you should jump off the fence and include Orange Crush. It's fantastic!

Yes, add orange crush. It's lovely! And I've done that kind of quilting. It's a pain but so worth it.

Orange Crush is now one of my favourite quilts you've ever done. I can see why it would be hard to put it in the show.
Try to enjoy the week despite the nerves.

Good luck! I love the design of the invitations. They're beautiful! And of course, you should include the orange quilt. Isn't it funny how the simplest looking quilting is often the hardest?

Your straight line quilting is always so precise - any suggestions? Do you use a walking foot? (I'm assuming you're using a regular sewing machine.)

Definitely include orange crush. It's very striking.

I can appreciate the orange crush quilting. I've done that before and it is time consuming. Lovely though. The quilt is definitely a show stopper.

i hope your show goes fabulously. orange crush is beautiful. love the flowers on the invitations - so pretty and delicate!

I just tried quilting similar to this, and it was harder than I thought it would be too. I think it was having to rotate the quilt so much to get it through the machine and my lines would waver. Yours is beautiful! I would put it in the show for sure. Good luck with the show!

Oh man... I really love this quilt. My husband's family likes to give quilts as gifts -- unfortunately they always seem to give me "grandma" looking ones.

This one is so modern and beautiful :)
