FMF Freaks...UNITE!

I'm not much for using a whole line of fabric in a project. I like to play with different combinations, but I seem to put a piece or two of Denyse Schmidt's Flea Market Fancy into just about everything I make. It's like the perfect line of fabric, great colors, great prints, a nice variety of scale. It has a modern feel with a nod of nostalgia. I love this fabric. I have a nice stash, but I'm slowly, but surely running out. I cut my last piece of one print the other day and it was hard.

Ah, what to do? Don't despair. Could we, the quilty blog community band together and convince Free Spirit to bring back this fabulous line of fabric? You never know the power and influence you have unless you try.

My friend Penny, of Sewtakeahike, has taken the initiative to start a campaign to bring FMF back. So, let's not let her be alone in her quest. If you're a FMF freak too, or would like to become one, join us!

Penny has started a blog just for the purpose of showing Free Spirit how much we want FMF back. To join the campaign, just go here and sign in to show your support.

WOW! That is the mother lode of FMF you've got there! Beautiful just as it is!

So that's where all the FMF fabric is--at your house!!! I'm using the blues/greens for my dresden and still hoarding the precious yardage I have left!

Love your blog.

Thanks for posting this, I discovered the FMF fabrics after they were already rare, and I have been hoping that some day they will be reprinted. I can imagine that the artist might not want to revisit something from the past, but from an economic point of view, I would guess that it would be profitable.

Hi! It's Natasha, from Austin :) I had a moment when reading this post...I thought that "Sewtakeahike" was one of those great city names in Kansas (like Osawatomie, Powhattan), and spent a few minutes trying to figure out 1) why I'd never heard of it and 2) how to pronounce it! Thanks for a laugh, however unintended! :)

OMG, that’s why I can’t buy a piece of FMF anymore. It’s all in your stash...LOL!

I’m a fan too, I still have a little unused stash.

While helping out in a quilt fabric shop I learned manufacturers want designers to bring out new series of quilt fabrics, to provide all customers and all kinds of tastes and to have something new at quilt markets like in Houston (and to earn money... of course...!)

What a great stash of FMF Jacquie! I rediscoverd my love of quilting after it was released so sadly have none - I have already joined Penny's petition - hears hoping she causes some change!

This fabric really is something. I see it almost everywhere I go in blog world. Like Penny, I missed out for the most part...I do have 4of the pink pieces AND one lovely yellow piece all because of you!!!:){One of my lqs has several bolts of Katie Jump Rope and I'm tempted to drive over there tomorrow to get some of each they have left.} I joined the campaign.

I only started sewing a year ago and don't own any FMF! Have already gone and signed up straight away. Fingers crossed.

Sadly I missed out on FMF too! I would absolutely love to have the line come back. I found some Katie Jump Rope the other day, it was at this out of the way fabric shop. Bolts and bolts of fabric and none of it was organized. The Katie Jump Rope fabrics I found where dumped in a bin and marked at 1$ a yard. I bought all she had.

I had no idea they stopped production on this. That line appeals to me as well, and had I known I might have stocked up.
Bruno is a mighty handsome fella! I think we are going to have to get a new dog this fall and seeing Bruno certainly makes it seem so necessary!
Love your latest projects, and yes I laughed (just a little) at you leaving the batting out.... :P
