The ' Embracing Fall' top isn't an oldie, but I think it's going to be a goodie. After much math (arrg!) and a search for more background fabric, it's finally a top.
It's a full size....I love the panels at a 45 degree angle like this.
Here's the room where it's going to live. It's hard to make a quilt that's masculine enough for my boys to sleep under. I think the quilting on this is going to make it come alive. I have a couple of shams to make too.
Here's the oldie part. Some of you may remember the 'Monet's Flower Garden' quilt made from vintage sheets. I've ventured into my UFO closet...it's scary in there. So many quilt tops to finish. I'm dedicating myself to clearing out that closet. I'm planning on giving myself an empty UFO closet for Christmas. Isn't that a nice gift?
This one is first on the list. It's basted and ready to quilt. Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Glad to know I'm not the only one who has scary, unfinished quilts!! Love you Fall quilt, can't wait to see how you quilt it!
I do love the masculine feel of it - I also live in a house of boys and am trying to make my quilts fit the mood of the place. I'm relatively new to the quilting game, but I noticed something in this picture that I haven't seen before: is the quilt top on the bias? As a long time garment sewer I have been taught to Respect the Bias, and I assumed that applied to quilting too. Seeing your picture, I realized for the first time that maybe that's not the case. How cool!
giving yourself a quilt...now THAT is a good idea! I love both of them, by the way! :)
Oh, I can imagine this quilt in white with a rainbow of colors (how's that for the mama of a boy??)...LOVING the 45 degree angle!
The 45 degree angle is so inspired. Love the colors too.
Oh yes! Embracing Fall is going to be stunning.
An empty UFO closet for Christmas sounds like a wonderful gift! If I can manage to catch up with my bees and swaps next week (gogo stay-cation), I think I'll join you on that challenge!
(ps--i can't wait to see what the quilting does for what is already a gorgeous and unique top!)
That Embracing Fall is fabulous! It really does give the feel of leaves on the ground. You are amazing.
Your talent never ceases to amaze me. I wish I had a closet filled with tops, I like to hand quilt, not piece! Now they have wonderful people who will quilt your top, I need a wonderful person to make my top!!! LOL Enjoy your weekend!
Wow! I LOVE the new quilt top!! Amazing design. Math though - ugh! Can't wait to see all your UFOs become FOs!
Love the simplicity of the Fall quilt. Your quilting will no doubt enhance it even more. Good luck with your UFOs. Be sure to share with us.
Great new top -- and I'm sure a guy would like it. Congrats on cleaning out the UFO's. I just signed up for a UFO challenge at my guild. I think my UFO's reproduce in the closet -- I'm sure there are more in there than there used to be!
The Embracing Fall quilt top is gorgeous! Love the simplicity, and I think it's quite masculine. I'm so thankful my hubs never insists on our bedroom quilts being masculine because I'd be scratching my head otherwise hehe
The 'embracing fall' quilt is terrific and is a handsome quilt. beautiful rich color. Love the Monet's Garden. You do such artistic and beautiful work - somehow it's hard to imagine that you have ufo's. But for some reason when I hear about other's ufo pile it makes me feel better about my pile.
Love your new quilt! And I have been gradually making a dent in my UFO pile... on my 5th project this month!
Seeing the Fall quilt all together is such a wonderful surprise! I would never have thought of that kind of setting. It looks like dry leaves scattered on the ground. Genius!
That is so beautiful and creative! I love it!
I'm thinking I need to come rustle through your closet! LOL
I like the masculine boy top...and that you have flowers in it. I do that too. It's like a part of mom is there with them always!
Peace this weekend to you and yours.
Gorgeous, and definitely masculine. How are you thinking of quilting it? You're right, the quilting will make that quilt.
Love both of those tops! Your work is always so inspiring!!! I got a stack of quilt tops to sash... some to baste.... and one to START for me to keep!!! Well done!
Love Embracing Fall! Best of luck with the closet of Unending Fabric Obligations - may you fall back in love with each and every project as it comes to your hands!
Both of these tops are delightful. I really like the diagonal line and minimalist feel to the top one, and what could be happier then old vintage flowered sheets! Looking forward to seeing how you quilt them both!
Definitely a wonderful masculine quilt. I love that the blocks are set on point, just perfect. I can't wait to see how you will quilt this one. The Monet's Flower Garden quilt top is just wonderful, very springlike.
Love both quilts! I'm trying to get some tops finished before Christmas as well, so I am going to join you in challenging myself. :)
Such gorgeous quilts! I have an ever growing stack waiting to be quilted too. And my poor vintage sheet quilt is quilted and waiting for binding. I meant to have that one finished during the summer...woops! I always enjoy visiting your blog, your quilts are unique, fun, and gorgeous!! x
The quilt top its wonderful; looking forward to see how you'll quilt it.
I'm on an UFO mission myself, so an empty UFO closet by Christmas sounds great to me.
Your fall quilt is wonderful. What an inspired idea to set it on point! Can't wait to see how you quilt it as there is so much area for beautiful quilting.
Good luck with the UFOs - mine are starting to pile up too.
fall quilt is a beauty.
but i cannot wait to see the vintage sheet one finished. woohoo!
That's gonna be some cool quilt!!
UFO's...you're preaching to the choir....a couple of weeks ago I made a vow I wasn't to start anything else until I finished up all my UFO's...well, you know how that goes....the first cute follow along quilt tutorial that comes up...well, let's just say...there is NO hope for me!!! I wish you better luck in yours than I have been having finishing mine!!!
Give that girl a Bernina and watch her GO! lol
When you finish your Christmas gift to yourself, I know someone else who needs that very same gift....
very masculine.. but still a quilt! & a very well designed one at that!!
yes yes nice nice
but
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I was wondering what happened to that one!! oooooooo I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT ALL QUILTED!!!!!
yippee yippeeeeeeee
those two quilts couldn't be more different, but they are both so lovely! good luck finishing up your UFO's by christmas. i have a similar goal, too.
Here I was longing for you to do another spring to finish as motivation to finish my UFO pile! I've got a pile of tops, with backings & bindings ready to go (this is always where I get stuck--basting). In desperation to avoid this pile, I've started two other quilt tops (cut but haven't pieced), and 10 other lap-sized quilts for Martha's Hope Chest that is 75% pieced. ACK! I'm going to enjoy seeing your UFOs getting finished. See? Even your blog is a reason to avoid my UFO pile :)
they are both so beautiful! I really like your new fall quilt - the diagonal is really fun. lately all the quilt tops i've been doodling have been on the diagonal... though i have yet to actually make one! can't wait to see yours all finished!!
what a beautiful quilt! I love the 45 degree angle on those blocks
