Sometimes I wonder why I let quilt tops hang in the closet for so long. I start to feel like I don't like them any longer, and then I finish them and they come to life.
I ripped out the quilting that I started with...it was a bad choice. I love how the scalloped quilting echoes the shape of the top of the hearts. It gives the quilt a vintage feel. It's not really modern, not really my aesthetic and I don't really like hearts, but for some reason I love this quilt. Go figure.
You can see the full quilt better here and its companion. Oh, and by the way, you can see how Em used my tutorial to make some more cute hearty things.

I love it. Vintage looking but not busy. The back is wonderful too - I would be proud to display that one. :)
Your quilt looks great. I really like the quilting. Its funny how quilts grow on you and what you learn from each one whether its intentionally tring a new technique or not.
It looks cozy and comfy! I love the way you did the scallop quilting :)
Very pretty! I have been mulling over doing a heart thing... we'll see if I have time. :)
Beautiful quilt.
I've used the tutorial a couple of times and the results are always great.
Many thanks x
It turned out just beautifully! The quilting really makes this quilt.
Jacqui, this smooches along very smoothly! Nice.
It is truly lovely and very vintage feeling. How did quilt those beautiful scallops? They are inspired.
I "heart" this ;)

Oh my gosh that is cute!
I am not usually much of a heart person either, but what makes this quilt successful for me is that the red solid is so prominent--keeps the hearts from being saccharine. Also, I really like how you added in a couple of prints with colors other than red/pink/white--this also makes the quilt more sophisticated than if you had not.
I also love the quilting, and wonder (like Michelle B) how you did it so precisely!
I love your quilt. I have a thing for hearts. I had printed your tutorial a while back..now I definitely need to pull it out and get to work!
Beautiful. thanks for sharing.
FABULOUS! When it works, it works!
I just LOVE red and this is gorgeous. I don't normally like hearts but somehow this really appeals to me... Our 5th wedding anniversary is coming up and this gives me plenty of inspiration to get into some heart making! (And thanks for the tutorial, it's a very generous gift).
Well I love hearts, and I lOVe this quilt!! So pretty. I'm going to check out your other heart stuff!
Truly beautiful! And just in time for Valentines Day!

How wonderful! You can't beat red and white together...especially as hearts!
Well I see vintage/modern lovliness. I love hearts. Another beauty.
I just love this! SO perfect for this time of year. I really love your quilitng!!
Wow! You are a genius to figure out how to make hearts like that. It's very tempting to consider making a big heart quilt for Valentine's day. However, I'm still struggling with getting the momentum going again after the Joy Challenge ended so I better just bookmark this idea for another time.
The scallops really do make the heart quilt!
Thanks for the plug. Very nice of you. Love your quilt. How could I not. I love these hearts!
I love your quilt! I do the same thing... I neglect a top and then I finally quilt it and love it. :)
Jennifer :)
PS The scalloped quilting is just beautiful!
You're a busy girl, that's why tops take a while to become quilts. But when they do, they're stunning!
It's a sweet, sweet quilt. I like how the quilting makes the hearts look even rounder! Nice effect!
the scalloped quilting is gorgeous! Beautiful job! I'm hoping to finally get a start on my three basted quilts that are ready for quilting this weekend
It's good to like something out of your typical style, it opens yourself up.
Your quilt is lovely!
Bear regards,
