New fabric might be one of the required medications.
Love these soft pinks and grays.
Wild thyme is one of my current favs.
I think these dots are fabulous and mingle will always be in my stash. I was running low on these squares.
Spent part of the weekend perfecting my oval template....I think I've got it now...it's going to show up in lots of designs. I get tired of squares and rectangles sometimes...and I think an oval shape is really fun and modern. I usually pin the heck out of my curves, but thanks to my friend Fulvia I tried something new. I sewed the above with NO, yes I said NO pinning. I watched this and gave it a go...and it worked first time, every time. Who knew?

And now for the giveaway. Holly is the winner. The Fat Quarterly team should be in contact with you soon. Congratulations!
Have a great week, avoid 'Pissy' if you can and let's see if we can get some finishes happening. At least that's my plan.

great fabric! I'll have to check Pink Chalk out next time I'm shopping online!
I sew curves with no pins, too! Just line up what's right under the foot, and everything works out fine. And +1 for Pink Chalk.
I agree with you with the great service Kathy has and the lovely fabrics, which makes it difficult not to order when I visit her webshop. You got some lovely fabrics!
That video just blew my mind. Woah.
Such a wonderful packet of fabrics. I have the wild thyme in orange. It just spoke to me. Love the softness of the pastels. I'm happy to report I worked on some UFOs yesterday. Now to finish 'em up!
That first set of fabrics was just the thing i've been looking for! Thanks for putting it together for me ;) My friend wanted a baby quilt commissioned from me and wanted soft pinks, greens and greys. Perfection! I sent her the link to Kathy's AH page. Thanks!
I always wonder how the fabrics I order from Kathy are so smooth and without wrinkles! Now I know! And yes... she always has the most gorgeous stuff in her shop! And you bought some fabrics I adore!
Now that I know I suffer from pissy, I'm going to do my best to overcome it - I do like the idea of the red wine as a possible cure! Love those fabrics!
I just took delivery of some of that zoo fabric (from Pink Chalk) too, and I LOVE it! Can't decide what to do with it, but love it.
Ohhhhhh, Jacquie... you might want to keep your fabric stash under lock and key, I know (roundabouts) where you live, and that fabric is callllling my name...
1st Pink Chalk is awesome. She even matched colors for me via email.
2nd I think I want to try ovals! So much easier looking then circles.
3rd That video was magical!
have fun with your new fabrics! I love that shop...definitely my fav online store, by far
awesome video! I'm going to try it!!
Great stash build! I loved Kathy's PISSY post as well. Funny, we all seem to be feeling/thinking the same thing, but it takes some moxy to put it in writing, doesn't it?
Love your oval....going to check out the video now.
Thanks for the reference to the video! Who knew!
I love getting fabric from Pink Chalk, it is always packaged beautifully, even after travelling all the way from the US to Australia!
Wasn't Kathy's "Pissy" post the best. I really enjoyed it too.
I'm totally in love with the Wild Thyme fabric, it's so bright and whimsical. :-)
Oh lucky Holly - and isn't that yummy fabic - being good and working away on my 3 chosen projects - pleased with the progress so far.
That fabric is too yummy! Hope this is a super happy week for you :)
Kathy's customer service is amazing! Definitely one of my favorite vendors. I have some Wild Thyme too, but I think I need a couple more colors. And Mingle, yes, such an awesome basic to always have on hand.
I was enjoying myself enough just looking at those gorgeous, fun fabrics when ... boom! my name appears! I am so glad you tried it and it worked for you. I just finished a whole quilt top of quarter square circles with no pinning, no stress -- just perfect curves and totally out of my realm. So glad you posted this!
what fabric is in that oval? i love it!
What great fabric! My husband says we are on a budget but surely fabric is not part of that is it? I am going to her site right now.
I bought those same Alexander Henry FQs from Kathy a while back... I love them... now I think I need to add the 2d zoo. :)
Also, I LOVE curved piecing... thank you for that video! Brilliant.
Great fabrics. I have got to get some mingle someday. Some of the purple.
About the PISSY syndrome... I think it can be hard to find a balance between getting inspired and motivated by seeing others' work, and feeling overwhelmed and inadequate. I'm hoping this week to start on some baby steps of a goal/dream I've had for a while. Hopefully starting with small steps will keep me from that whole inadequate/whiny thing.
I LOVE your oval. Looks great!
I am not PISSY yet but I know it is coming :) Nothing like a little fabric therapy to cure you. I got two of my four things on my SpPring to Finish done already. I blogged about it just now. I think that is a big cure for me too. Getting all of the old stuff done and on to new stuff.
wow...great video! Thanks for sharing! And I love the dots fabric...hmmm...might just have to add some to my stash! :)
Great fabrics!!
Your curvy lines sewing is perfect:)
I also sew curvy lines without pins, it easier that way for me .
Thanks for sharing that video! I will have to try that! I have been afraid of trying curves, but has to make some for a bee, so any help is great.
Beautiful fabrics Jacquie! Thanks for the video link -- I'm definitely going to have to try that. It has to be better than pinning fabric within an inch of it's life!
Great video! Wow...it makes me want to go start a new project with curves now. Wait...I have projects to finish first and blogs to read. There's never enough time. Hmm...I think I might have a case of pissy too! LOL
Such pretty fabrics! I found Pink Chalk through you and I have ordered from her several times. Wow! I had no idea about her ironing the fabric... now wonder it is always in great shape when it gets to me!
Love your oval preview too!
Jennifer :)
Great video. Might try sewing some curves now. I get pissy when I have to go to work and I'd rather be quilting :-(
Love your fabrics...I, too, love ordering from Kathy!
Fabric makes me so excited. It gets me thinking. I love when fabric comes. Kathy is great.
Thanks for that link. Very helpful.
Fantastic video. Thanks so much for sharing. I've been scared to try curves, but had my first go tonight and it turned out brilliantly! I know my quilt designs are going to take a bit of a turn towards curves. Thanks!!!
Kathy's service is AWESOME! I did not know she irons the fabric -- that's service extraordinaire! I love those wee animals and that big B/W dot. Mmm... Love your oval too! I still use a few pins on curves but really want to master doing without. It is so hard to avoid Pissy...
those fabrics are awesome!!!
Thanks for the shout out my friend! Let me just say I have the best customers in the world.
For the record, we don't iron all the fabric, just the cuts with too many wrinkles :)
I had to come back and thank you again for that video! I tried it out!!! yahoo, it worked! thank you, thank you, thank you...
(in case you're wondering what I used it for: http://traceyjayquilts.blogspot.com/2010/04/wip-wednesday-experiment.html)
Jacquie, you are such a great resource and teacher! I watched the video from O'Hare airport and wished I could jump up and try that technique for curves, espeially becuase I just made a few blocks for a friend using Denyse Schmidt's Snakecharmer pattern.
Funny thought: I had a dream last night that I called you on the phone for help. You were very kind and helpful--as always.
A package from Pink Chalk Studio showed up on my doorstep today!
Love it when that happens, and I agree, her service, shipping, and fabric are awesome. My orders usually arrive 3 days after my order is placed - amazing for us in Alaska!
cool
I'm looking forward to seeing what you create with ovals! I love the look of circles, and imagine that ovals will be great in a quilt!
These fabrics are so gorgeous! I love your curved piecing, too. What a great way to showcase fabric, and I love ovals. I will have to try this!
