I was cleaning closets the other day and believe it or not I have one closet where I store unused pillow covers. I love to change out pillows to give a room a new look. There were several that haven't been used for awhile and really don't have a place in this house. It's a shame to leave them hanging unwanted and unused, so I thought I'd try a little pillow cover recycling. I've been collecting old window frames for awhile (don't ask why, I just do).
I used one to showcase a little bit of these pillows. The "In Crowd" Alexander Henry fabric is one of my all time favs. I hung it in the guest bedroom for now.
I have more windows. Maybe I should design and make a set of window sized quilts? Could be fun!

We have an old frame almost like that which was abandoned on some farmyard in Kansas. Ours doesn't have the window panes but otherwise they would almost be twins. I should rescue it from its life in our closet...
Absolutely a great use of the quilted pillow covers and the old window frame. Such fun to mix the mod look with the old. I like this!

I love that fabric that you featured in the window frames! This is a good idea for recycling past quilts instead of letting them languish in the dark closet. Wonderful!
I've had a couple of cool old window frames hanging around, waiting for just the right project, but I hadn't thought of putting quilts in them. Creative thinking!

Oh i have a thing for old window frames too.... theyre great for pictures, mirrors, hung up anywhere....i just love em. they add a sense of warmth and love to a home.. i know wierd.. but theyre great!! xx That one is beautiful... love the cases too!!

Several years ago I saw a quilt/window art piece at the apartment of a friend of mine. Her window had 6 panes, all of which had chicken wire in them. Then there was this beautiful old floral quilt behind it (it filled all 6 panes). She said that the quilt had been her grandmother's and had some damage, so she thought putting it behind the window would be the best place for it. Ever since then, I have wanted to pair a quilt with an old window frame. I haven't yet...but someday I will.
