Working Away...

A quick update...almost done with this. A few hand stitches and it can be the centerpiece of the table. I love how bright and happy it is.
Last week I attended the wedding of one of my dearest friends.  It was the most joyful event I've attended in a long time.  You know how some weddings are sort of hushed and tense and everyone whispers in the pews.  This one was filled with joy, and song and well wishes.  The very best part was the processional.  Her dad walked her down the aisle as he sang "You Are So Beautiful" and at the same time her future husband stood at the top of the aisle playing his guitar, serenading her as she walked.  There wasn't a dry eye in the church.  It was such a wonderful experience to be a part of her joy and be enveloped by the happiness of her family.

That's a long story, but it is the story of this quilt.  Her favorite color is brown and the wedding was done in this warm chocolate brown, creams and just a tiny touch of orange. (a girl after my own heart!) I make a quilt for all of my friends who get married.  None of them receive them on time, but they do get them eventually.  I had every intention of finishing hers on time, but at least it is back on the design wall.  It's going to be Windows of Joy someday.  I'm still tweaking the blocks and the layout, but at least it's in process.
Hope you're staying cool and having a great week.

That may be the cutest sweetest thing I've ever heard of! I hope someone was filming that for them!

And I LOVE your little table centerpiece quilt... the quilting and color choices are beautiful!

What a beautiful wedding story!

Love the layout you have so far - reminds me of an organic garden path meandering, but still going somewhere.

That has to be one of the most romantic wedding story ever.

I made quilts for my sisters when they got married....they didn't get done on time either. :)

Love the quilt blocks! Do you just make the blocks and figure out the math afterwards?

The quilting on the table topper is fantastic. My Viking has a stitch like that...did you use a special stitch on your machine, or just freehand the wobble?? Looks great...I'd love to have it on my table!!!

Reading how you described the wedding ceremony made me goosebumbs and I think being there must have been even more touching.

Your tablerunner is beautiful, it fits great to the dark brown of the table's wood and the quilting makes it really cool!!!

That wedding story gave me glorious goosebumps. What a wonderful event to participate in.

Do you have any suggestions for using the decorative stitches for the quilting you did on your table piece? Is it just like regular sewing but slower? Do you mark lines like you do with straight line quilting? Sorry to pepper you with questions but maybe since I used one of your hot words you will answer in an upcoming post. :-)

I like your honesty about being on time! I'm EXACTLY the same way, if you're having a baby you're quilt present will be there by the time they are 1. Even though I know almost a year in advance, I always put it off to the last, and then, I figure oh, well, the baby is already here, I'll get to know him a little first.

Great color choices with the chocolates.

Hi... I too have to ask about the wavy line quilting you did on your topper. I just love the texture it provides! Wow. Is that a built in stitch?... on what brand of machine? Did you use a walking foot? Did you push the stitch button each time before you started so all the lines are in sync? I know this is annoying, but I am anal and want to know the details. Good luck with your move to the Windy City. I am an Illinoisan living in the burbs... welcome!
