The other day I looked at the comments on the Building Bridges quilt on flickr and I thought I saw that Luke had left a comment for me. I thought for a second...no, it's not him. (his flickr name isn't Luke)
Then later in the day I received a flickr mail from the one and only, yes from Luke. I tried to be cool about it and respond like it was no big deal.
I've been a fan (an understatement) of his work for a long time. He has, as I said earlier, mad skills, and a unique creative perspective that I admire.
If you don't know his work you should check it out. Someday I'm going to see his work in person and even better learn from him. That will be a good day.

His work is amazing, as is yours!
So exciting! I'm a fan of Luke's work too. His portraits are stunning. I'm not surprised Building Bridges caught his eye - it is an amazing piece.
You may be fast approaching idol status yourself :)
You are pretty darn awesome too - you should know :)
His quilts are fantastic - I can't even begin to fathom how he does that with the shading - wow.
Jacquie, people recognize good work. Even Luke Haynes! Congrats on the recognition! You've earned it.
His work is amazing, I enjoyed the link to his site and your Bridges quilt still speaks to me like no other. I have a windmill on my property that I look at through my window every day as I quilt and I would so like to do something similar using it as my model...you inspire me to think I should try!
That is so wonderful for you - and very well deserved.
How lovely for you. Thanks for the link, it's mind blowing! the mad house project, oh my, the undies. An amazing artist.
You are right, his skills are MAD! You're not too shabby either my friend!
how exciting!! congrats :)
How wonderful and exciting! You absolutely deserve the recognition by someone as talented as you are!
You are meant to know each other. Maybe even collaborate on something! Ohhh! It's funny. When I watched Bridges development I kept thinking of Stieglitz comment about O'Keefe "Finally a woman on paper". I thought, Gee, given the stark, sharp, clean, engineered lines in (your) piece, a man is certainly going to find this masterpiece. Whaddya know! Congrats!
Yes, I have idols. In fact, you're one of them. ;-)
Yes, Luke is definitely prolific and has great talent! But you do as well, my friend!
Whoa! His stuff is incredible. Thanks for sharing, and congrats on your brush with greatness :) I can see why your piece caught his eye!
your work is every bit as wonderful as his. thanks for sharing the link to his website. love your quilts. can't wait to see your hexagons that you are working on.
That's how I'd feel if you ever commented on something I made :). His work is amazing- thanks for the link! The possibilities with fabric are mind boggling!
