Time to Make the Bed

After traveling, the house, the studio and I was (were) a mess.  (too tired to think about grammar!)I had time to put the quilts away, clean and make the bed before packing and heading out again. As you know, making the bed means changing the quilt. This time I chose "Outside In". I designed this quilt as part of an experiment with putting the majority of the design of the quilt on the outer edge...or in the border as some might say. I have another quilt designed like this (hopefully Interweave will release that one some day). It was cut from the book and I'm kinda bummed that I can't show it.
I like the back of this quilt as much as the front.  This is one of the patterns that will be released this fall along with "Broken Cogs."  It's been a long time coming, but it is finally going to happen!

    Last night I had a MQG meeting and tonight I volunteer at the art museum slinging beer so no sewing (I work full time), but Friday at 4:45 p.m. I getting that sewing machine cranked up and not stopping all weekend! Love the quilt and the back is a beautiful as the front!

    Adore that quilt!!! Am more of a "traditional" quilter gal BUT the longer I follow you the more I am drawn to the more contemporary style! Love that the center is so "clean" with the interest in the outer areas....your eye drawn by the awesome quilting!!! My thoughts are whirling in new directions!!!! Happily sew!

    I love the way you put the quilt on the bed. Making a queen size quilt is very daunting to me but this way I can have a smaller quilt on the bed and still have it look amazing!

    I love the design and color of this quilt!...as well as the quilting. Well done and outside the box too! I love quilts as an accent to bedding much more than as a "bedspread". Your bed looks so lovely!

    I love this quilt! My best guy friend loves it, too! Can't wait for the pattern to come out - he wants me to make him one in navy and gray colors!

    I love this quilt...I also love the way you display it on the bed this way. I'm going to have to start buying more neutral duvet covers so I can try that.

    Looks like being Square is Cool. Love this one, Jacqui. Sewing? I'm in between quilts. Pondering turquoise and brown, deep pinks (Kona). Just finished my variation on your Blue Ice using scraps, Artichoke, Snow and Celery and Stone with Peach accent. Love it. Thanks for the idea!

    Jacquie, that's gorgeous! I definitely wish I was sewing, that's for sure. No AC at home makes it hard to get excited about turning on the iron, so we'll see what I get accomplished this weekend. Not lacking inspiration, only motivation!

    I AM sewing...just taking a break! I'm making your 'Stepping Stones' pattern but using an apple print (old old old) for the background and little prints for the 'stones'...I'm TRYING to use up what I have.

    Love this idea of a border design! Looks great. In the summer it's harder to spend lots of time in front of the machine, so I have a big handsewing project to take with me to the pool, vacation, etc...

    I am sewing and I feel like I'm on to something. I've had a couple of really interesting finishes, then I tossed a project... and started something new.
    I love that idea of putting the interest round the outside.. clever.

    How many bobbins did you use for this quilt? And how do you decide which pattern to use? I usually just stipple or free motion...it must take ages to do. I love it, back and front!

    You know how every once in a while you see a quilt that just speaks to you? Tis one is just screaming at me. I love it so much! I know I can make it - I have studied it on my computer screen for a couple days now. My version will probably be a little different without your pattern, but I am so excited to try! You are truly inspirational!

    I just love the way you "make your bed". Wallhangings are nice, but bed quilts are extra special, and it's surprising how everyone displays them everywhere imaginable except on a BED!
