The Granddaughter Star is finished and took its place on the ladder as all new quilts do.
I added a small appliqued hexagon in the center...it needed something there.
I'm not really satisfied with the quilting, but it's done and sometimes that's satisfaction enough. Thanks Kate, for talking me out of ripping out the quilting!
I did another design for the back, Hexagon Portrait. It's for those who like the look of machine pieced hexies, but don't want to sew 200 together to make a quilt. (only 12 hexies on this side)
I like the back more than the front. Simple, yet still interesting.

I LOVE it Jacquie!!!
I love it...the front and the back both. The quilting adds to the interest...glad you did not rip it out!
I love both sides. A lot! If I had to pick a favorite element? That sneaky, sneaky gray hexagon on the back.
you noticed, jenny....that's absolutely my favorite part too...so cool, huh!
I think you mentioned you'd be using this piece for a class? Perfect! Glad you decided against ripping the quilting. Heck, I'd rather start over with an entirely new quilt than rip. And I like the quilting :) On to Windmills?
ooh!
Just beautiful! I love the quilting too!
Sometimes we are our own worst critics. I love the front, the back AND the quilting to boot!
Another fantastic quilt! I love the fabrics you used - every time I see that leaf print, I smile.
Love the back too where the grey half hexy reaches out to connect with the red ones :)
Beautiful Jacquie - and the quilting = perfection!
It "POPS" beautifully!
That is absolutely gorgeous, i love the colour choices, they do really pop, and the quilting is terrific. Great job!
Love the back almost as much as the front.
WOW! That is gorgeous!
I love it, and think the quilting is fantastic. Makes it look like it is moving. Great job!
Love the composition on the back
It is bright and pretty and I love the circle quilting! The back is fabulous. I am going to try these machine pieced hexies soon....no patience for the hand pieced......
I just love this quilt - everything about it! You continue to inspire - color choices, concentric circles, a divine back-- many thanks!
I really like the quilting that you chose! And the back is fun in a minimal sort of way!
Oh goodness that is a super cool quilt front and back!!!
I love both sides, AND the circular quilting! Like ripples in a pond. Awesome.
So fabulous...I love everything this quilt.
Gotta tell you I love the fabrics you've used--as a matter of fact, I've purchased most of them too, and planned to make a hexagon quilt with them also! (I am slow!) Fun to see how lovely they look stitched up! (And I like both sides--how great it is wonderfully reversable!) Thanks for providing a wonderful preview for me! :)
I love your quilt and the colors you have chosen.
And I think the quilting is very nice and the back is very interesting. Thanks for sharing
Beautiful...front and back!
Beautiful- both sides:) Love the fabrics and the grey hexie on the back especially:)
I love it! A big machine pieced hexie quilt is on my "must do" list! Thanks for the inspiration!
What fun I've had taking a scroll through your site during the quiet of the morning while I enjoyed my cuppa. I loved all of your tutorials and checking out Marmalade Fabrics and HER blog. A more traditional quilter, it was an enlightening journey. I could stay for hours, but my sewing machine is calling me!! I'll just have to pop back in! Thanks!
Jacquie, I love it...just wonderful! Just another reason why I'm excited to be taking your Hexi-Sewing class at QuiltCon.
I know a few others have said it too; but that little grey hexi on the back just kills me :-)
oh LOVE the back too. Can't wait to do this class. Going to Kathy's today, wanna come?
Fantastic quilt! I love the colours, the quilting and, how, even though it's so simple, it has such great movement!
