80's Revival

One of the small projects I set aside was Elizabeth's traveling quilt. She sent most of the fabric I needed to work on it and it was easy to go out and buy some black and white so I didn't have to break into any boxes.  Elizabeth established an 80's theme for her quilt and for me the 80's is all about music, so I made a cassette tape (remember those?) and some musical notes set in her neon fabrics.
The cassette was a challenge to figure out, but one of the black/white fabrics she sent was perfect for the little roller thingys that hold the tape inside and then I fussy cut some dots to be the tape rolls that show through the little window.  I had to google cassette tape to remember what they looked like.  I think it's kinda fun.  I thought about making a boom box, but the scale didn't seem to fit with the rest of the quilt.
There were some little scraps of her neon fabrics, so I played with those and added a little something to Penny's awesome markers.
Market is only days away.  Can I say excited?!!

  10. How totally amazing this is!! Funny about the cassette tapes--for my medical transcription, one of my doctors still uses the dictaphone that requires microcassettes. Which are getting VERY hard to find. I finally located some at Radio Shack and stocked up because who knows if I'll ever be able to get them again!

You made a fabulous addition to this quilt! Have tons of fun at Market!

    Thanks!
