Many of you had questions in the comments that I was planning to answer, so if you have questions, please ask again.
Thanks for all the kind comments about our housing struggle. Who knew so many people have experienced the same thing or worse!
I discovered it takes me longer to unpack than pack. I am a speed packer, but when it comes to unpacking I'm a "place for everything, everything in its place" kinda gal. I still have art to hang, but I'm just about done in the rest of the apartment and the studio is finally ready to sew. It was harder than I thought to arrange with a little more space. I still have some lighting issues to figure out. The sun blazes in during the day and right now I only have my two swing arm lamps for the evening, but here's my new studio ready for me to get to work!
My ironing station and solid fabric storage.
Old school pinterest.
The sewing quilting area.
A small desk for office work.
The new fabric storage shelves compliments of my hubby!
More shelves for books and fabric and a colorwheel for inspiration.
My cutting table which I'm working on getting to the correct height. My dad's thread cabinet with a thread rainbow.
Ruler storage.
The design wall all clean, restretched and ready for use.
Now, to get to work!

You have a very nice place to work!
Love, love, love!
fabulous! what size is your colour wheel?
This looks great. About the height of your cutting table: a lovely friend told me she cuts fabric on the kitchen island bench (with a mat, of course!). And it's perfect! So much easier on your back and it encourages me to keep the bench clear. I even designed my new kitchen with a big island just so I could cut on it- much to the amusement of the builder! Fiona
What a gorgeous space! Please share the goodies created there with us>
Love your sewing table. Did you make it or have it made?
the colorwheel is jovelle hoverson's pattern in Last Minute Patchwork and Gifts. I think it's about 55 x 55.
Still looking great and workable! After a struggle in "my room" today.... I know I need to get organized. Thank you :)
Love seeing how people set up their work space...it looks great!
Such a pretty workspace! I had asked earlier what surface you're using as an ironing board. I hate my ironing board and would much rather have a shelf/cubby set up like yours, but what's on top? Thanks - and thanks for sharing these inspiring photos! - Ashley in Nashville
ashley,
I took a piece of wood, cut it to size, covered it with one layer of batting and stapled that to the back. then i covered it with home dec fabric. simple as that. nothing fancy. i guess you could use insulbrite batting to protect the wood from the heat, but i've done this for years and never had a problem
hope this helps,
j
Lovely space! I am going to get to work on something similar for a new ironing station, thank you for sharing!
Sure beats my work space (cubicle)! Drooling.
Your space is an inspiration! My sewing room (having recently undergone a severe clean up) aspires to be this lovely.
I am in love with your ruler storage. I so need something like this.
Wonderful, looks so promising!
I am stealing your idea of an ironing surface. Costco sells those racks, and will deliver (if not for free, for less than a local store would charge for delivery.) I am sure the local home improvement store will cut a piece of wood to size for me.
As for the ruler storage, I bought a few of those at the local TJ Maxx, because they were such a good price. I thought I would use them for magazines, but now I see I can store my rulers in there as well. Your pictures are so helpful!
I love your sewing studio!
What a fantastic space .. no wonder you make such beautiful quilts, this space would inspire anyone to create magic.
I love this space. I just picked up some organizational ideas too! *sigh*--completely envying the orange cutting table AND the thread cabinet. But then again, I've been coveting that thread cabinet since the very first time you posted it!! and "How About Orange" I'm sure is completely loving the use of her fabric in your fabulous room!
I sure am. :)
hi there! i really love your cutting table, just the perfect size for two cutting matts. where did you happen to find that? it has a cool vintage look, i'd love to get my hands on one if possible. also love how you have the 2 baskets hanging on the side--handy, but out of the way.
thanks for sharing! suzanne from pittsburgh
You can increase the height of your cutting table by putting it up on bed risers. They come in different heights. I think I needed the 7 inch, but they come in lower. Measure to figure out what hight you need the table to be and go from there!
I like your ruler storage thing. Was it made to hold magzines? I want one!
Love your genius ruler storage and your space looks like a fun place to play! Thanks for sharing it!
wow, what a great workspace!! I am impressed by how organised AND beautiful everything is. gives me something to aspire to :)
