Tangerine Tango...How Do I Love Thee?

Ahhhh...color bliss!  As the year comes to an end I have to say how this color has made my year.  Walking into stores and seeing clothes, dishes, purses, sofas, giant clocks and about anything I can imagine in my favorite color has done much to uplift my spirits in 2012.  Tangerine Tango, simply saying it out loud puts a smile on my face.
It's fun to look back and see the colors of the year over time.

So, what's trending for 2013.  Pantone has given us a little hint about what's up for the coming year.  I will say though I love blue, I think Monaco Blue is pretty dull.  Maybe we need some calm after the "in your face" orange of Tangerine Tango?  I wonder what the discussion is like in the Pantone secret room where the color of the year for 2013 is decided.  I would like to be a fly on the wall in that room.
Despite what the folks in that room decide, I'll continue to use the colors that I like.  I'm voting for a Tangerine Tango decade.  What would your choice be for 2013's color of the year?

***UPDATE...so Emerald it is.  Will you embrace the trend?

Jacquie, looking back over the "colors of the years," I notice there has not yet been a green "color of the year." So I vote for Emerald! although "Tender Shoots" is a good color for me, not everyone can wear that color --

Actually with the change of administrations, and the worries about economy and such somber color may be influenced by that.

I do think navy is due to come back as a strong neutral. I'm loving all the great shades of orange too and a yellowy green will always make me happy :)

Anything in the citrus family makes me smile. I love papaya color. Rich and vibrant. I'm not a drab color. If I'm going dark, no navy, I want full on black. I can handle dark slate, no brown.

Tangerine Tango changed my life. For this year I hope it is Emerald because that is my favorite color and I always have trouble finding clothes in that color.

Wow I love that Poppy Red. But the greyed Jade is nice too. There are so many choices I have no idea how they can pick just one!

Out of those 10, I really like the emerald...but I like the idea of neutrals being "in"...or maybe a nice navy blue.

cant wait for the announcement though! =)

I love Tangerine Tango, but for me it has to be #8 Tender Shoots, I love this color so much, I actually had 4 tops in various shades of this in one load of laundry. :D

Orange is my favorite color so having Tangerine Tango was great! I also like green so I vote for Tender Shoots!

I like navy blue as a neutral, then I like to add brights. Of this group I like Poppy Red best, but they probably won't go for two warm brights in a row. I think they'll choose Emerald, but I love Tender Shoots.

I am currently in love with all things orange and red, so my vote is for the poppy color.

How funny, I painted the doors on my house Blue Iris the year *before* it was color of the year....still love it. Have to go with Tender Shoots,as the biggest stack of my fabric stash is that color, and I love it in paint, ceramics, the garden, you name it!

I like Greyed Jade and Tender Shoots the best! I actually really like the Monaco Blue - not quite royal, not quite navy...

Tender shoots! Tender shoots! :-) We need some green. :-) Although, I love just about any color.

It's always inspiring to hear about the philosophical story behind the colour selection of the year. I like "Linen". It looks like a good foundation colour to show off the previous 13 years. In this time of huge global financial shifts, family and community focus I think foundation is key. Last year there were several Pantone Webinar events each lasting about 45 minutes. There is one coming up on Dec. 13 discussing how the 2013 colour was selected. You need to pre-register via their site. It's cool... always a great presentation.

I've never quite understood the 'power' given to the identification of a color palatte. What I do know is that there are some years (or seasons- spring/summer is the worst) when none of the colors in the clothing stores go with my complexion. Do they really think my skin tone changes in the spring? So, THE COLOR choice depends for me on what I'm using for quilting, for decorating my house, or for wearing, and I pick differently. Of the options presented, its Poppy for me!

I like the color Grayed Jade. I did not like this years color. I am not a fan of orange.

Well I mostly wear black with jewel toned accent colours so what colour clothes are trendy is pretty much irrelevent to me. So....I pick tender shoots because it makes me feel happy. Second choice would be poppy red.

I am with you. We could stay with orange. But I like tender shoots a lot. And nectarine!

Orange was never color that i gravitated to until this year. I made my first orange quilt for a tangerine tango contest and won third prize! Coincidentally i just finished piecing a quilt top today that was made with the tangerine tango bundle that i won. I am definately a fan of orange now. As for blue, it's just not my color. I love warmer colors. Would love to see yellow as a color of the year!

I'm guessing emerald.... I think it will definitely be a cool color.

Purple of course!! With a little Tender Shoots. That Monaco Blue would look very nice with tangerine or nectarine!!

I would also vote for either Tender Shoots or Emerald.

Tangerine Tango is perfection on a paint chip. It will be tough to follow. I think we should let it have it's second term. Thanks for the heads up! Take care, Byrd

Orange is my favorite color and I will continue to use it. Blue not so much so it will be a challenge to use it at all. I like the Tender Shoots and the Lemon Zest. Yep, warm colors for me.

Mine is the Tangerine Tango. It might be because my feature wall in my living room is the exact same color. The name is different, Candy Corn.

I don't use it a ton but my bet would be on the violet. I have been seeing it show up more and more in house beautiful. As a preference I would like the darker blue but I think the Pantone color focuses more on an accent rather than a primary palette color. Navy has been strong now for a couple years.

I would really love to see linen as the color for my first choice and my 2nd choice would be Dusk blue.

Emerald it is :)

Emerald it is (too.) Good choice.

I've always loved greens. My whole house uses green as the neutral and it's amazing how well it works for all the seasonal decor I use. Emerald isn't my favorite green but maybe it'll grow on me. Especially with a touch of tango mixed in.

Definitely will embrace Emerald :) Emerald solids on order :)

Oh dearie, thanks for keeping us aware of the oh-so-"in" colors. Can we wrap our minds around this influence, and comply to these suggestions?

I'm not letting go of Tangerine Tango. Not only is the name fabulous, dahling, but the color is just amazing. Emerald is okay. I like to say "Grayed Jade" out loud but it's not really my favorite. Tender Shoots is quite a lovely color. I'm just not ready to quit doing the Tango.

Hi! Just wanted to stop by and let you know that last night I picked up a set of 4 tangerine tango "Pantone" designer nail polish at Sephora for $7.00. Almost less then one normal bottle! I was so happy. Check online to see if they are still out there. They also had eye shadow and lipstick (cringe- cant pull that one off!).

I don't quite know exactly what shade this emerald is. The color chip to me looks like teal. A lot of the magazine and online pictures with examples of "emerald" don't actually use that exact shade of green. Even the pantone site uses an emerald gem that has greens that are totally different from the color chip. I think it's a little wishywashy. The tangerine tango was so specific. Emerald is a little too close to the 90's forest/hunter phase for me. Too soon my Pantone friend, too soon. I will embrace the teal, bright green and super dark green.

I LOVE Tender Shoots and Lemon Zest. Emerald is okay...though I love shades of green (my biggest stash color), I learn toward brighter greens. Their choice certainly is not going to influence my choices.
