Happy Turns to Ecstatic

The Radio Flyer wonky log cabin is finished! Yippee! Here it is all neatly folded and ready to be packaged for its recipient and also spread out in all its glory. It's 48" x 60", way bigger than I originally intended. The back is a black flannel print with a strip of the vintage Radio Flyer baby blanket running across the back. I ended out having to rip out another corner of the quilting this morning when I found a big pucker that I couldn't live with. It's quilted with red thread. I started with black..not a good idea, changed to cream...too boring. Finally decided on red and I love it. It almost gives it a harlequin feeling. This honey had more thinking, canoodling and fussing in it, but now that it's finished I think it's funky and sweet all at the same time.

Wow! This is a fantastic quilt. I love the color combination and agree that the red quilting is wonderful. I am going to take a whole evening sometime soon just to browse through your blog! Amazing.

You did a fantastically amazing job on this one - you should give yourself several pats on the back!!! I love it, and now am inspired to think about some wonky log cabin blocks meself.

Did I miss something....you are not keeping it? It is wonderful and would look great with modern decor...you know white, black or red leather sofas etc. Fantastic job and the red stitching is perfect and meant you did not need the ricrak after all.

Isn't it great to have something creative to distract us when all hell breaks loose in the family and blog?

Oh, I like that! I never would have thought of quilting it with a contrasting color thread--have just always done it with the fabric's color so it was part of the background. But it adds so much!

those polka dots are too cute! I hope you haven't given this one away YET, as I'd love to see a photo with the corner turned back to see the fabric on the backing...

we plan to give our twins Radio Flyer ride on toys for their 1st birthday and while searching on eBay I came across RF fabric... never saw that before then.

Hope you can share 1 more pic. ;)

Love from Texas! ~bonnie

Yikes! Forgot to ask ... Where can I find the white on black fabric?

jacquie said...

Lisa, The black and white are Olivia Dots I believe from Andover fabrics. Just google Olivia fabric and you should be able to find it. I can't email because you have one of those no reply comments. Sorry.
