Been working on this Steely log cabin between the quilting of this quilt and the rest of real life around here. Denyse Schmidt inspired for sure. Tried to add my own little twists. I think I'm liking it. Wish I could make it bigger...ran out of fabric. Is anyone surprised? Started it on a whim...no plan. Will I ever change? Hope I have just enough red for the binding.
Note to self: Do a Fit Friday post. This running thing is really kicking my butt.

Love the solids and bits of red in there! Running out of fabric is the worst - but it looks great and plenty big for a throw!?
This is really nice jackie. You just keep getting better and better.
this is really lovely! can't wait to see it all quilted up.
Wow - this is really so great! What a unique and great use of color. Love it.
woohoo! The quilts are both looking wonderful! I love the red bits among all the white and grey! Very very cool!
And....running is supposed to kick your butt, isn't it?! Looking forward to reading your post tomorrow!
I'm so glad you popped over, because I got to pop back here. I don't even know where to start, but besides our having the same first name I see a lot of things I can relate to/that we have in common. Having teen children, being mid-aged, trying to stay fit, wanting to blog without obligation - love that idea! And your quilts would be the ones I would be drawn to right away. Love the color combination on this one. So delighted to have 'met' you!
I love this quilt! I really should quilt more, you are inspiring me!...Have fun with your run, today is my rest day, five miles tomorrow :)noo
don't know where that "noo" came from, probably my fab typing skills :)
I like this - the red just jumps out at you. How is running going? Hope you have enough red for the binding!

Very striking! Just the right amount of red...
I love the little hints of red in there.
Speaking of running...I should get back into that habit.
it really is turning out beautifully! I cannot WAIT to see it with the red binding!
s.t.u.n.n.i.n.g! Love the delicate touches of red!!
Wow, I love the simplicty but hidden interestingness of it. (not a word but oh well). It is really great. The red is the unexpected. I love that.
It is coming together so quickly and it is beautiful! I love the red accents.
This is beautiful and I, too, love the grace of the red. I find this quilt so very restful and calming.
I just sent a thank you email to you for the thoughtful and encouraging comment you left on my blog. I am not sure what happened, but it bounced right back at me! I always appreciate your visits and kind comments. It means a lot. Wishing you a wonderful weekend, e.
I love that quilt. I love reading your blog -- it's so inspirational!
Great quilt! Love the touches of red!
Love it, love it, love it!!! I'm nuts about red and this quilt really gives that special kick.
I'm in love! Such a striking quilt.
Love the perfect touches of red. Very interesting and beautiful.
Love the quilt! The red really pops and keeps the quilt interesting. I can't wait to see it all quilted up.
wow...how awesome is that red against the steely gray? love it!
Wonderful! I love the pops of red in there. Thanks for encouraging me on my posting this week. Oh, the ups and downs of parenthood! I think I need to snuggle up in one of your quilts, though. That would be a great comfort! -- Michele
lovely. i bought some pretty grays and purples not to long ago, i have been wanting to do something quilty with them. i like yours. i dont think enough people use gray, do you?
ooohhh I'm loving it.
But I can't for the life of me figure out how you just start without a plan. I'm one I draw it out on graph paper and figure how much of each fabric I'll need, then I always buy a yard or two extra..just in case....this is why I have sooooo much fabric. Well, that and I inherited all my Grandmother's fabric.....
Absolutely stunning! So so clever. I love it!
Oh Jacquie, it's just spectacular!
You are so very clever....I love the splashes of red.
It's wonderful, it looks very sophisticated to me.
it's wonderful. I have really been liking grey lately. The red really adds to it too. CAn't wait to see it finished.
You could always go with black or white border too :) Both of those colors would frame the quilt like a picture frame does artwork.
I think when you run out of fabric, sometimes the quilt is perfect designwise. When you force it to become bigger it loses some of the charm. I really like this one.
the quilt is looking great! I start things on a whim and get into trouble, too. but it always makes for an interesting (and good!) challenge and result.
I really like this design with the dashes of red. You are not the only one who starts things on a whim.
I love your gray white and red log cabin, great visual impact. Great idea for the guys in our lives.
Beautiful! When you do solids they seem so colorful! I like the red. It is like taking a walk in Seattle - rainy, strolling along with umbrella, gray skies and then you see a bright flower.
WOW!! I really like it. The red with the grey is striking.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this one!!!!!!!! Your splashes of red are SUPER!!!

I love those bits of red in the quilt!
who would've thought that a grey and white quilt could be so pretty?? I love your addition of reds. awesome quilt.
Awesome. So plain and yet great impact.
this is such a great top! I really like the proportions of red and gray that you used!
I love love love this quilt, and it's even better that it started on a whim. Those are often the best quilts!
I love the graphic look of this top. Can't wait to see it done.
