Made these last night (more Christmas gifts.) I found 4 of these appliqued flower blocks in an antique store. Two were on the original quilt blocks and two were cut into circles. I did a bias binding on them to protect the edges and then hand appliqued them onto this Katie Jump Rope fabric. I hope the fabric doesn't detract from the flowers. I'm not sure about these yet. I think I need to live with them for a bit.
Thanks for all the kind words about my Fractured Pinwheel quilt. It was also great to read all of your info and tips on free motion quilting. Thanks!

How pretty - and I think the fabric coordinates very well with the antique blocks. These will be great christmas gifts.
Kris
well I like the brown one better than the red one.
but it's a fabulous idea and I love that you made them as gifts!
Gorgeous! Fabulous eye for combining some new fabric with those pretty antique blocks, Jacquie.
Love the pillows! Nice way to "recycle" some antique blocks. I really like them on the Katie Jump Rope fabric. Anyone would be happy to have them as a gift!
Those are beautiful. I am always looking for ways to use beautiful vintage blocks or cutter quilts I see around. This is a perfect way.
I think those are just lovely -- I think you did a superb job of matching the vintage pieces to a modern fabric. Bravo!
I agree with mightymom that the brown is more pleasing... Maybe because the red is so strong with the light block? But regardless they are both very pretty, and a neat way to combine the new fabric and the older blocks. I like the Katie Jumprope for this, seems to fit great.
I love the combination of the vintage blocks with the contemporary fabric.
These are fantastic! I think they look great. I really like the brown one.
what lovely pillows! i love that you are repurposing these old quilts into pillows to be loved again.
wow! you never cease to amaze me! How clever! very pretty too!
Love the bold colors paired up with the vintage pinwheels! You rock Miss J! Have a great day!
How cute are those! I love them. You are so creative.
I love both of these. I find them so warming and somehow, very comforting. What a wonderful and unique Christmas gift. Lucky recipient.
I think those came out great! Just beautiful.
Love your pillows! I think it's great that you are giving new life to something old :)
You have an amazing sense of style.
Have you ever thought of publishing some type of quilt book?
I think they look cheery and fun. You always have great ideas.
Oh Wow, I love those pillows! They are great, don't change a thing! Very creative!
How simply beautiful! I love the mix of modern and vintage and you always have a wonderful sense of combining colors and patterns. Great job.
I think that they are beautiful!!
I think they are really lovely!
I love them, and I think the fabric and the blocks work really well together!
What a great combo!
They are very beautiful !!!!
beautiful! i love katie jump rope - they look fabulous. and good for you for getting it together to start making christmas gifts. i'm feeling woefully behind already. . . .
I think they are fabulous! It gives me some ideas for what to do with some of these shreds of quilts I've received!
I like the brown one and the off center thing works. Kind of taking a classic and modernizing. The red one does not work quite as well but I can't say why. They are fun as a pair though.
Whyt a super idea. I have some quilt blocks I could "antique" and applqiue. You think of the smartest things!
What a brilliant way to use some antique quilt blocks.
these are gorgeous! I love how you combined the old with the new :)
nice repurposing of the quilt blocks! I like them on the katie jump rope fabric...it updates the blocks, if you know what I mean.
These are so pretty! I love, love, love the brown one, but the red one is beautiful, too. These would be great gifts, but I would be tempted to keep them.
I really like the way the antique blocks float on the pillows, they look great and are now usable as well as pretty to look at.
They are precious. I love them. What a great find and a great way to preserve them.
these are adorable!!! great job jacquie! i wish i had time to quilt...maybe next week!

laurie
Great combination of old and new fabrics! Love it Jacquie!
I love them Jacquie!! Those medallions were a terrific find!!
I love the cushions - I would be most happy to receive them as a christmas present!!
It's funny that you aren't sure about the flowers with the Katie Jump Rope. The first thing I thought of when I opened the page was, "Wow, I love how those go with that Katie Jump Rope." I'd sure be happy with a great Christmas present like that!
Very pretty! Very vintage. I wish I could start on my Christmas gifts.
What a beautiful pillows!
Kind regards,
Sonnj & Beertje Zonn
I don't think the fabric detracts from the flowers at all. these are lovely.
Beautiful pillows - perfect Christmas gifts!!!
I like them a lot. I think the fabric works wonderfully with them.
Great find, those vintage flower medallions! And I love that you repurposed them into pillows.
