Vintage Flower Medallion Pillows

Made these last night (more Christmas gifts.) I found 4 of these appliqued flower blocks in an antique store. Two were on the original quilt blocks and two were cut into circles. I did a bias binding on them to protect the edges and then hand appliqued them onto this Katie Jump Rope fabric. I hope the fabric doesn't detract from the flowers. I'm not sure about these yet. I think I need to live with them for a bit.

Thanks for all the kind words about my Fractured Pinwheel quilt. It was also great to read all of your info and tips on free motion quilting. Thanks!

How pretty - and I think the fabric coordinates very well with the antique blocks. These will be great christmas gifts.

Love the pillows! Nice way to "recycle" some antique blocks. I really like them on the Katie Jump Rope fabric. Anyone would be happy to have them as a gift!

Those are beautiful. I am always looking for ways to use beautiful vintage blocks or cutter quilts I see around. This is a perfect way.

I think those are just lovely -- I think you did a superb job of matching the vintage pieces to a modern fabric. Bravo!

I agree with mightymom that the brown is more pleasing... Maybe because the red is so strong with the light block? But regardless they are both very pretty, and a neat way to combine the new fabric and the older blocks. I like the Katie Jumprope for this, seems to fit great.

I like the brown one and the off center thing works. Kind of taking a classic and modernizing. The red one does not work quite as well but I can't say why. They are fun as a pair though.

Whyt a super idea. I have some quilt blocks I could "antique" and applqiue. You think of the smartest things!

nice repurposing of the quilt blocks! I like them on the katie jump rope fabric...it updates the blocks, if you know what I mean.

These are so pretty! I love, love, love the brown one, but the red one is beautiful, too. These would be great gifts, but I would be tempted to keep them.

I really like the way the antique blocks float on the pillows, they look great and are now usable as well as pretty to look at.

It's funny that you aren't sure about the flowers with the Katie Jump Rope. The first thing I thought of when I opened the page was, "Wow, I love how those go with that Katie Jump Rope." I'd sure be happy with a great Christmas present like that!
