I like how it has a bit of a contemporary feel by using the fans in a non-traditional way. I love how the little red 4 patches frame the red work along with the inner "circle" of fans. I think it's a bit me, a bit my mom and it's an original. That's what I wanted.
Thanks to all of you who came by for Sew Mama Sew's Giveaway Day. These are the little fabric bundles that I'm giving away too. I'm still decorating. After checking the comments (and that took a LONG time!), there are some folks that are in the ballpark, but remember I'm giving away the quilt and 6 fabric bundles so 7 people can guess the correct number. We shall see how many trees are up by the deadline. So if you haven't made a guess, you might want to.

Here's a border suggestion, regardless the fabric you choose, I'd suggest adding additional diagional blocks to complete the "big square". I'm not usually a symmetrical person like that, but my eye's keep trying to find the missing box corners...lol

I love how you altered the fans. Like you said, it is so origanal, unique. It definately gave it more of a contemporary/ vintage feel.

I would maybe do a thin inner border in darker red and outside border lighter.
Just a thought....
Amazing! I love this layout! It really draws attention to the redwork, without taking away from the other blocks in the quilt. It really evens out all the blocks, and makes it a gorgeous quilttop!!
Make the postcards....you'll need to keep a little of this one close :)

This is just so pretty. I have a very old set of redwork state flowers that I just didn't know what to do with. This might be just perfect to use some of them this way.
