There are 7 more days in the Spring to Finish Challenge. Remember, you decide what a finish is for you and come back here on April 30th and report your number of finishes. One entry for each finish. For me, a quilt has to be done, totally done, to count. This one isn't totally done, but it's moved from 5 blocks to a completed top. That's progress.
This is my scrappy cabin that I started way back in March 2008. Originally I was going to make all of these fit together in some way without sashing, but since each block is a different size, it was more than I wanted to tackle right now. I decided to use the leftover linen from Jon's graduation quilt to set these blocks.
So I made another 15 blocks and made this top. There isn't any color theme to the blocks...they're simply scrappy. I think a scrappy binding would look cute with this top. One more top added to the list of quilts to be quilted around here. I have 10 tops hanging in the closet...waiting. I have some basting to do and more backs to make.
There is one quilt that is sooooo close to a finish. Remember this quilt? It's the 'Wonderland Garden' quilt...the one I'm making to donate for the church raffle. I have this big roll of binding to hand sew on to the back and then a label to make.
Here's a peek. Stay tuned for the big reveal and find out how YOU might WIN this quilt. The ladies of the church have given me permission to open up the raffle to my blog friends.

The binding looks so yummy all rolled up like that.
It's all so lovely... I especially like that roll of polka dot binding!
You hand sew on all the binding or just the one side??
I sew one side on with my machine and then handsew the rest.
Oh the binding is going to go so well with that quilt.
I love the scrappy look of the first one!
I love all the scrappy quilts. Yours looks so great and I LOVE the red polka dot binding.
I would love to WIN that quilt! I don't even need to see all of it to know it's fabulous! That's awesome that you get to open up the raffle to all of us, hope I don't miss it!
If I win it can I rename it "Sunday, Bloody Sunday?"
Love the scrappy cabin quilt top Jacquie - so colourful and fun! I am constantly amazed at how much you manage to get done - be interesting to see your total at the end of the month!
I really like the combo of linen and your scrappy blocks. You are rolling on your finishing... I will be happy with few that I can actually tackle. Winning that quilt? Tell us more....
7 days - aaahh! I really need to stop starting new projects and work on some old ones. I have a couple I can probably finish before the deadline.
The log cabin quilt is amazing - I love it. And I can't wait to hear more about the raffle - that quilt is stunning!
Your log cabin is so appealing!!!.......ok..(me...looking around) what could I possible get finished by the end of the month...???
Everything is fantastic and I think that is my favouritist binding ever.
oooooooh - baby blue and red! I love it!!
I'm in......how much are those raffle tickets?
Hi Jacquie! I've been working so hard, thanks to you and your sweet button on my blog! I've got to get on there and post some pictures.(now that my camera is working again...)again, you've got a great quilt (or two or more) going on...
I just love the scrappy log cabin!! And hmmmmm.... I recognize that other wonderful quilt. I can't wait to enter to win it, it truly is a beauty!
I love your quilts...always...they're wonderful! And you're doing so well on finishes! I keep starting new projects...maybe my spring to finish month will have to be May...but I have finished a few!
Your projects are all so pretty. The color combinations are exqusitely chosen and all your work looks very professional. I've got some projects done as part of "Spring to Finish". Not a lot, but things that I needed to do but stalled for one reason or another. I have one more in progress that is challenging me, but I hope to have it done by the end of the month.
Jacquie, your scrappy quilt is going to be gorgeous.
Does your church group how many follow you on your blog. We are going to signing up right and left.
Keep Stitchen'
Bonnie
You have so much going and it is all wonderful. All my projects are so small in comparison. Thanks again for the motivation.
As always, beautiful quilts. I love the blue and red combination. They are so fitting.
I love your scrappy log cabins quilt! The linen is a wonderful counterpoint to all the crazy scrappiness - it calms it all down. The quilt looks so elegant with the linen.
You're doing so well on all your finishes. I can't believe how much you get done!
Love your scrappy quilt. Btw, do you always make binding roll like the red polka dot by yourself? I mean you have maybe 2-3 rolls to ready for used?
WHAT??!!
how many days did you say???
sure you didn't miscount?? really??????? I really thought there were a few more days in April...like about 20!!
I demand a RECOUNT!
PS always have loved that quilt. love the dottie binding.
7 days only..?
Love all I see in this post and the polka dot binding is so lovely!
A raffle of a quilt... I’m curious to see how it works because I’ve been about it to, but I have no clue about how to...
Happy weekend!
I'll be so excited to be able to get a ticket in that "just say no - redwork high" drug quilt of yours....can't wait!
The quilts are great - lots of color! I am jealous of how much you are getting done. I cannot seq/quilt right now. I have to work on my house and study for my LEED test. After June 15, I can finally get back to my quilts! Keep after those UFO's!
J, The linen is an interesting choice, can't wait to see it quilted. I really like your polka dot binding. What's not to like about polka dots? Well done as usual. Have a great weekend!
oooohhhh oh!! we can win that quilt!? i LOVE that quilt, since the first time i saw it on your blog. i keep thinking about doing something in red and aqua - they're my two favorite colors.
my QOV quilt top won't count? i have to rely on someone else to do the quilting before i can bind it and i doubt she'll send it back before the end of the month. :(
either way, i'm scrambling to finish a couple more things. a 7 day reminder is good, but awful.
No finishes yet, but I'm loving looking at yours and others' finishes.
Does that count? lol
I love both quilts. I am trying to make a red and aqua quilt, too, so I'm soooo drawn to that one, but the scrappy one looks so fun and fresh.
oh, I love the linen sashing! I might have to do this for my blocks I got back from my quilting bee. It looks stunning!
I'm loving your scrappiness!
I know I have mentioned this before, but you totally amaze me with your creativity and the energy and joy that your quilts radiate. They are a true reflection of you.
I love red and aqua! I wanted to join the Spring to Finish but I don't have any unfinished tops. As a complete hand sewer, I force myself to finish one quilt at a time. I can't race through a top!
You are pretty impressive sticking with this. I'm so good at making the tops and moving on, the quilting never gets done. Someday I'll learn to free motion...
This has been a great challenge for me! I've finished three quilts already, done-done and I'm hoping to finish one more top ~ that one is going to the long-arm, so I'm counting it as done as well, because I'm done with it until it returns for enjoyment!
Thanks for hosting this challenge. It's fun to finish and fun to post pictures!
Cheers,
Dionne
Yay, I'm ready to buy tickets!
Such a yummy quilt (both this one and the red one) I wish I had your talent
You make such beautiful things! Thanks again for the inspiration on springing to finish. I am on a roll and determined to keep going!:) (4 baby quilts completely finished so far-one lap quilt to finish this weekend)
your scrappy blocks are wonderful! i'm thankful that you started the spring to finish challenge, or else i am positive that i would have started 5 new quilts (just this week). my scraps are many and they are calling my name. :)
Ooh, a raffle! I think I may have to buy a bunch of tickets.
Oh This IS my Favorite quilt!!! I think I told you that already when you asked for help naming it. I can't wait for a chance at it :)
That's not much time left in your challenge . . . I guess I did make two mini's :) I love the linen sashing around your scrappiness! Great work :)
Woo Hoo, I will buy some tickets!
this spring to the finish has been the best thing for me (and for school procrastination). You always have such inspiring blog contests/projects
