Stockholm...I have a crush on you!

I've been busy making class samples and step outs for my upcoming appearance on "The Quilt Show." I was only going to make 4 blocks, but I liked it so much, I kept going.  This is "Scandia Crush", a version of the Lilac Crush quilt that's in the book.  It's such a sophisticated look...I'm in love with it.
The background is Alexander Henry's Heath in gray, kona coal and white and the rest of the fabric is Robin Zingone's Stockholm and some of my last scraps of my Finlandia fabric by Free Spirit.  Gotta tell you I'm in love with that Stockholm fabric.  I love when just a touch of prints makes such a big impact! I don't know what took me so long to use it.  I've got a couple hundred hexagons cut from this as well.  Itching to make that quilt!
I bought most of my Stockholm prints from Tammy at Marmalade.  She's about the only one who has it and I think I need to buy more before it's gone.  The orange and lime and blue and brown colorways are pretty great too!

Oooohhhhh! Do I ever love this! (And I almost never say that about anything fuchsia...) I see why you couldn't stop at four blocks.

I'm also going to have to track down some of that Heath fabric.

Oh, great top! It's fun to see how different the two versions look and feel.
I really love to sell the book in our shop in Munich and always hope, everyone has the same fun looking at the pictures and thinking about making own projekt as I have.

Now I'm intrigued! This is great! What fascinates me just now is how you pieced the background. I am making something sort of similar with improvised squares on a background and it has been doing my head in a bit trying to figure out how, when I don't want each piece in the centre. It looks as though you've extended the sides of each block to set it in its own (same sized) block of background. The maths is challenging me, (because I don't' want to waste fabric by doing it improvisationally too, because I also need fabric for the quilt back) and I'm sure you have a better way. Your book is on my birthday list, maybe you'll have some more hints there...

This is looking fantastic! I've been drooling over the Stockholm leaf prints for quite some time - I might just have to give in and buy some :)

Those prints have some serious kapow! and I love how you've framed them in for maximum impact with minimum yardage use!

Love it. I just can't get the hang of quilts like this; I love the look but I need it all to match lol.

I just read Quilting Modern and the Modern Quilting Bee Block Party books while on vacation this week and boy am I inspired to quilt modern now!

I'm new to this whole genre of modern quilting, but boy does it speak to me! Keep up the great work and inspiration!
