So last night when I couldn't sleep I designed the "Scissors" quilt. Scissors are a perfect symbol for being a maker so I went for it. I love that it's graphic, simple, bold and gives the "impression" of scissors as opposed to a more realistic interpretation. It's only a drawing, but I can't wait to make it. It'll have to wait because other things are taking priority right now, but it's going to get made. I'm sure it will get tweaked in the process of making, my drawings never get duplicated...they are a starting point.
I don't have an idea of what fabrics or colors I'll use, but I'm itching to play with it. Thanks for the inspiration, Charlotte!

Reminds me of my seldom used zig zag scissors. I used them a lot when I was making clothing. Quilts, never.
Very cool. I design quilts in my head when I'm going for a long, boring swim. I need something to keep my mind busy. I have an entire notebook full! Look forward to seeing this come to fruition.
That's so funny - I was sketching long after I should have been in bed last night too. I think all that QuiltCon inspiration is settling down into some productive thoughts. Love the scissors!
I was lucky enough to hang out with Charlotte at Market in Houston - such fun!
hahahahahahahahaaa!!!! Oh, you have totally just made my weekend!!!
oh, and you should definitely use "orindge" for your "scissahs"
Ditto... For myself, a need to get it done and done right kind of person, quilting has allowed me to keep the idea rolling in the back of my mind, to bring up at any time "like at night", until I finally know I've got it.....
Looking forward to seeing this scissor quilt.... :)
Loved your lecture at QuiltCon, and now your blog....
LOVE IT!!!
Charlotte was awesome! She taught us many British things. And Jules taught us many Aussie things. Shh, we were supposed to be sewing.
Charlotte is so awesome!! And she totally deserves quilt made with her as inspiration. :D I love the cropped view of the scissors!
Very cool...
I did a scissors block for a group quilt - it was hard getting the angles right... But I used a button for the "Score" - Yep, I just googled to find out the official terms for the parts of a scissor.
Charlotte is the best! This quilt will be awesome.
lol Jacquie! Charlotte also schooled us on how to say "orange scissors" nice quilt plan :)
I do the exact same thing! I use to drift off to sleep wondering about the lottery, but I find designing quilts to be much more productive! Take care, Byrd
Oh, cool!
Lol Both Charlotte and Emily have beat me to the punch, but Orange is a fun english word too. I love this, and I can't wait to see it come to life in fabric!
Something with notions on it would be nice.
I think your starting point is awesome--anxious to see how it actually turns out. I was trying to figure out how Charlotte actually pronounced scissors, but then I saw her comment a little further down. So cool.
