Scrappy Evolution

Remember this bag of scraps?

First they appeared in this sewing machine cozy. The pattern is available at Spool. This one is for me. It was a practice for a Christmas gift for a special sewer. Watch those top corners, they were tough.

Then they turned into these with no real purpose in mind.

Next they found their way into placemats. I made 4 of them. They'll make a nice gift, or they would look fab on my table. I like the quilting on these, kinda modern and funky.

And wouldn't you know it those scraps evolved themselves right into a quilt. "G" Whiz! OK, so I used a few pieces from my stash too. I needed a lap quilt in the living room. It's getting chilly!

And now I have these and more scraps. Stay tuned...

Amazing. I love the placemats and especially the quilting on them - how did you come up with that pattern? I can't wait to see the lap quilt in all it's finished glory. I need a sewing machine cover, I'll have to get motivated and make one....

i second "quiltedsimple." that quilting pattern was what i originally had in my head for my red quilt, but then i went a slightly different direction because i couldn't quite figure out how to make it work. any tips/hints?

Well aren't you the clever one. I love the quilting on your placemats. I WANT more of the Flea Market Fancy fabric...say that 10 times real fast. They need to reissue this line. I have a yard each of 10 different pieces that my family gave me for Christmas 2 years ago. I'm going to start my project in the new year.

Great job! I strive to use up all. (It'll clear more space in the sewing cabinet too.) And it is esp neat when you love the fabrics too. Take care!

What can I say, Fabulous!!!

tell me, just so that I can get an idea, how long did it take you to do all that???

And do you do everything by machine? do you quilt yourself or have someone quilt it for you and do you quilt by hand or machine????

I absolutely love your work and your production.... I wish I was as prolific (is that the word??)as you!!!

Please keep it up!!!

What fun! It's like a bag of blocks for a kid, only better! Thanks for pointing out the placemat quilting -- I enlarged it for a closer look and it's very cool indeed. Really nice to have that on an otherwise more simple design.

Ya gotta love a bag of scraps. They are the best of fabrics to get your creative juices going. Just look what you did with yours.
My girlfriends always tease me that I never throw a scrap away and I tell them that there are countless possibilities in that bag of scraps.

I along with others are curious. What have you got in store for the remainder of those pretty pieces of fabric?

I'm in love with those colors and the versatility of a few strips of gorgeous fabric. (Drool). You've got it all over me on those potholders. I'd be afraid to get gravy on those lovelies.

I'm thinking I need to make a sewing machine cover, too. Both of mine sit out all the time, and I probably should cover them.

Look at all of your gorgeous scrap projects! I love them all. And so sorry to hear about the jack-asses who smashed your windows. We had our car broken into in our own driveway while we slept. Who does that? I just don't get how some people can live with themselves.. they must lead pretty sad lives.
