May I Offer You....

....some cheese with my whine?
I'm not going to hide it. I'm feeling a little whiney about this weekend as my friends whisk off to Houston for quilt market. It's not the right time for me, I'm resigned to that fact and determined to work my butt off and accomplish lots this weekend.

Speaking of my butt, there's another thing I've got to whine about. I've fallen off the exercise routine. In fact, I've totally sucked. I've fallen so behind I haven't even gotten some of you on the sidebar. So, I'm recommitting. I guess that happens. I'm getting on the treadmill right after this post is done, then I'm going to get caught up with all of the participants.

Next Friday, a giveaway for all of you "Improv(e) Your Butt" participants. A big one...lots of nice goodies coming right from my stash. (That's a good penance for my exercise sins.) All you have to do is recommit yourself to your exercise routine, or if your one of those who have kept it up, you don't have to do a thing. Leave a comment and let me know which category you fit in. Let's keep going!

Have a happy Friday and be sure to come back tomorrow. I'm the Saturday stop in Elizabeth's (Oh Fransson) book tour. Stop by to win a copy of her book and some fabric she picked especially for you!

I went running 3x a week for 6 weeks. And this week I got a cold, and it got cold outside, too, so I haven't been out. I'm still committed to exercising, just not sure about taking my little one out in the jogging stroller in the cold and wind. I need to figure out what I'm going to do for this next season!

Haha. I haven't even gotten ON the exercise routine to be able to fall OFF. Okay. This was good to read. But first I think I'll have some wine and cheese...and THEN I'm sure I'll be inspired to get to exercising...

I've been a slacker - not forgotten about it entirely, but not consistent AT ALL. I'm not sure I have the energy to recommit right now....

OK, I am kind of half on and half off. I committed to do yoga twice a week and I am continuing and love it however it has gotten cold and rainy so I have not been walking. I am going to recommit to my walking. I will get out and walk today!!!! Thanks for the reminder and motivation.

I run between 15 and 20 miles a week. I've been doing it for a little over 4 years. Excercise is like work, you know those days when you go to work and you really don't want to? You have to do the same thin with excercise. Sometimes I hate every mile, sometimes not. And since winter is coming- I'm only doing about 15 miles a week. Brrrr..

I am so whining with you! (but I think I'll get to go to Spring!). :)

I've had a couple lulls, but have definitely improved my routine (and hopefully butt a bit). I haven't lost my 8 baby pounds, but I am exercising more.

i need to get back on the exercising wagon... i try... but there is so much to do, too many people sick or i'm just too tired... bad excuses, i know.

Count me in....I've been committed to incorporating more exercise into my life since July, training to run/jog a 5K using the 5K101 program, but the jogging wasn't fun. So I walk, and it's good! 3 miles, trying for 3-4X/week. I sit all day at my desk, and then sit in a chair at night sewing/quilting/knitting. Not good! I'm feeling better with the exercise which is the whole point.

I've been newly committed to exercise since last Monday. One half hour walk a day minimum - hopefully two if I can fit them in. And I'm starting to run slowly, a minute running, a minute walking x 6 so far. Also changing my diet drastically which makes me tired right now but my body will adjust if I keep it up. Good for you for getting back on board.

Quilt market-schmilt market. Who wants to be part of that fabric frenzy and shameless capitalistic buzz-generating chaos? Me. So me.

Played tennis last night and realized that I have to ramp up the "Butt Challenge" commitment for fear that the old ladies who play next to me for 3 hour stretches secretly make fun of me for being exhausted after an hour. I shouldn't be winded and sweating profusely 5 minutes into my match...

I appreciate you share honestly about the struggle to excercise regulary. I do better now with my husband's support. I found a program on stretching and love it. It lasts 30 min. Sometimes I do 2 programs in a raw. I also discorvered Pilates.

Thanks for the reminder...I was so good while in Seattle last week, but lost my energy this week. I promise to get off my duff and get back on the program tomorrow.

I know what you mean! I am seeing all these tweets from everyone arriving at market. sounds so fun. As for exercise, I managed to get to the gym 3x this week but am still suffering the ill effects of sciatica and so have been rather sloth like lately.

I hear ya! I've been exercising still, but it's much more sporadic now! The cold doesn't help, but this week is supposed to be nice so I have no excuse! My new plan is Monday and Tuesday run in the afternoon, Wednesday/Thursday workout inside in the morning, Friday do SOMETHING, Saturday run, Sunday off.

I've no problem keeping up my excercise, it's the daily logging it in I can't seem to do.

I would say that I'm one of the recently recommitted. Though I'm not doing quite as much as I was at the beginning -- I was biking in the morning and with the cooler/wetter weather and the shorter days, it's hard to get it in every day. But I'm trying!

You aren't the only one! After 8 months of trying to do different things I finally decided to quit wasting time and got a personal trainer. My youngest daughter and I are doing it together. She for strength and speed (she is a softball pitcher) and me for weight loss and toning. This is our first week and there are parts of my body that I didn't know could be this sore!

I'm right there with you whining about not being at Market. My mom is there without me this time due to hubby's business trip. Wah!

Exercise. Oh, how I loathe thee, but need to get back on the wagon, too. I'm tired of it running over my toes.

Being able to get back on the exercise bandwagon is the most important part of making an exercise routine that works in the long run, so good for you! I used to coach people through this kind of stuff all the time, and the ones who were successful in the long run were always the people who were constantly tweaking their routine to make it work for them (and as you know, that changes all the time with new season, new schedule, new work load/assignments, etc.) If you take the long view, little "falling off" blips don't stack up to much so long as you keep on at it. 'Cuz even as someone who's coached people through this stuff, I certainly have my moments too!

sometimes we all need a little break from exercise and the re-motivation. i've been rocking my run above and beyond my goals, but slacking on the bicycle. i have committed to my non-resilient friends who keep asking me where i'm at to re-join them on our wed. morning women's ride next week! dive in head first!

I never committed to the exercise challenge but I've been keeping up on my running. I can't say I know exactly how you feel but after reading about all the folks going to Houston, I feel a little like a girl who isn't attending the big party this year. I am hoping that all my "Friends" share details of their trips. Wishing you a very productive weekend.

I wish I was going, too. boohoo. Good idea on the wine... think I'll put a bottle in to chill.

Oh, I feel like an awful participant as well. Although I have been trying to fit excercise in, I can't seem to get over to the site to report it. I do feel so overwhelmed lately, like I've lost my groove since this summer. Big sigh. I'm glad that you shared because I think it's helpful to know that really talented wonderful people have their own set of things they want to improve upon. We've all got strengths and weaknesses.... and let's not forget that there are only so many hours in a day!

I have done some exercising, but need to do more! At work if I have time, (I am a nurse), I walk up and down 10 floors of stairs - that makes my heart race and butt really feel it!

Miriam said...

Great to hear you are getting back to exercising.
I have managed to keep up with my target almost every week. Had a bad week a couple of weeks ago, back back to it now. It is amazing how much better one feels after a brisk walk.

Hmm - was trying to find your email address but no luck. I was going to say I have felt whiney for the last month and have been (in my mind) whining about going to QF - I leave tomorrow morning. My first class is Tuesday. I have a great collection of classes, a day of shopping with my sis, time with two of my nieces, and yet - I feel like whining. SO I think you and I both have the blues and it has NOTHING to do with Quilt Market or Festival...its just us. Sigh...just started packing and I still don't feel like going. So I think I will have to keep an eye out for something to send YOU as my
penance...so please send me your address.

I must admit, I'm a wee bit jealous that I'm not going to market. :(
Keeping up with an exercise routine is so hard in the beginning, I've been there!

I went and signed up when you first posted about the challenge and made that cool button for our blogs......then I promptly stopped thinking about it. (except every time I read your blog and saw the button...) I'm recommitting right here, right now!

I am in my hotel room in Houston getting ready to attend my first Market ever! I started an online fabric shop this year so I am excited and a little nervous about going.)

Thanks for the re-challenge!

I've been pretty faithful to the exercising (I go the mornings my baby is in preschool - 3x) and one weekend day. BUT....my Dr. told me no aerobic exercise next week, instead lots of stretching, low impact, slow walking. It'll be a nice break...i don't think I've been giving it my all but rather going through the routine. Maybe I'll be rejuvenated and missing my usual by next Friday.

Why do quilting and exercising have to be such a trade-off? For a while I was really dedicated to running and therefore did NO quilting, because after I got home from work, ran on the treadmill and then made dinner I was absolutely exhausted. So then I tried quilting, which means I didn't run on the treadmill. Now I'm doing quite a bit of both, but I think it's sleep that is lacking a little. Either way, I have def kept up with my exercise, I haven't however been good AT ALL at using the website to track it. I'll try harder! Thanks for admitting to falling behind, it helps me admit it too! ;-)

Lynn said...

Funny that you post this now...
I have fallen off the wagon too. I was just thinking that I need to get back in the swing. I'll go for a walk as soon as I post this and get dressed!

ecuakim said...

I knew I would fizzle, so I never even signed up to be on your team. And fizzle I did. Here's to recommitment!

Judy said...

I've managed to walk and post the results every day, although some days are better than others, (I hate wind.) Now that my walking partner is back from vacation, my distance should increase. Besides, I'm ahead on miles, but behind on fabric usage!

audreypawdrey said...

I am doing well with the walking. I am trying to get in 5 miles a day, and I have been doing great with that for the past month. I forget to log in to the website, though! I lost 45 lbs. after having my daughter this past year through breastfeeding and walking, and I am determined not to gain it back!

MightyMom said...

I'll recommit with you. It's been a month since I made it to the gym!! I'm gonna go tonight though and I've got zumba DVDs that I ordered should be here this week!
