Let's Celebrate

This is my 100th post. I started blogging in January of 2008 with the intention of simply doing an online journal of my work. At the time I didn't realize the extent of the online community of crafters. I have enjoyed seeing and reading about your creations and your lives. I have developed my craftmanship and my aesthetics in large part due to the supportive, creative people that I have connected with through this blog. I marvel at the kindness and generosity of people who I have never met. It always amazes me what a kind word or a supportive comment will do to motivate or inspire me. I try to do the same for others in the blog community. So, thanks for coming by, for reading, for being part of my blog. Now for the celebration.

No party is complete without cake. The cake today is generously provided by Kajsa of Syko fame. She's a fabulous Finnish quilt artist. If you haven't visited her blog, drop everything and go now. She has the most wonderful, unique design sense. I love the whimsical feeling of her work. Right now she has a quilt up for auction on ebay to benefit Chinese orphans. Check it out and make a bid! The cake has zero calories, but is chocked full of creativity, inspiration and fabulous fabric. Don't we all need a piece of that every once and awhile!
In addition to cake there is a present. This quilt in the pictures below will go to one of you attending my party. This is my first mini quilt. I signed up for a mini quilt swap and I've been practicing and this little 8" square quilt is the result. The front is the "Pretty in Pink" side with little pink print pinwheels. The back is the "Wonky Log Cabin" side. Isn't that fun, it's reversible! This crinkled beauty can be yours.

So if you would like to attend the party, celebrate with me and try to take home the present, simply leave a comment and let me know which side of this little pink quilt you like the best and why. The party won't last forever. You need to arrive and leave your comment by Thursday at 9:00 p.m. Central Time. I will announce the recipient Friday morning. Please be sure there is a way I can contact you either by blog or email. I would love to send it off before I leave on Saturday for my 25th wedding anniversary celebration trip with my hubby!

Oh love it. Congrats on your blog annivesary and your 25th Wedding Anniversary. Very special...mine was last year. Anyway...LOVE the mini...both sides...but I'll choose the wonky log cabin side because it's different and I like different.

Hi, Congrats on your 100th post and your 25 years with DH. Your blog inspired me to start one too. I like your mini-quilt. Which side? I like the pinwheels - it shows your talent with triangles recently gained.

oooh! party at your place and at mine? how fun! i like the pinwheel side. i've been so excited about the "new" modern style of quilting and most of the more traditonal patterns do nothing for me, but i've seen this pinwheel design in several different places and just LOVE the whimsy.

Congratulations on your 100th post!

Tine said...

Post #100! Congratulations!! The miniquilt is gorgeous! On both sides! I'm always impressed with triangles, though, so my favourite is the pinwheels-side :-)

Happy Birthday!!! and Happy Anniversary!!!!!

I like the wonky side for its effect and color combination and because I find it more original than the pinwheels..... And because I associate it more with you and your wonky blocs!!!!! It's more "you" (at least the idea I have of you since I don't know you personally)

Have a great trip!!! Have fun!!!!!!

nettie said...

that's impossible. they are both beautiful. I think I really like the pinwheels side, it has even inspired me to start a pinwheel cute.

But I do love the log cabin.

The Calico Cat said...

Pinwheels - because I love how the pattern repeats.

Congratulations on reaching 100 posts, and an even bigger congrats on the anniversary. I love both sides but I have to admit I'm partial to the pinwheels. When I first looked at it, it reminded me of a Japanese orchid garden, don't ask me why, it just does.

Happy Blog Anniversary and Wedding Anniversary!
It has been wonderful to meet you in blogland. I enjoy reading your post and to see all your crafty stuff!
Which side... I love them both, but lately I have a thing for pinwheels. maybe because I finally ‘got’ what it takes to make them.

Joanna said...

Congrats! It's a lot of work to do 100 posts. I'm almost there, but not quite.

So I love both sides of the quilt - but I think I am 'into' the wonky log cabin side more. I love that you see more of each fabric, and that it's not perfect and straight - just like us humans!!!

Congratulations again!

Love the mini quilt, just adorable.
hmmm hard to decide
I am going to say the log cabin, very traditional block, says home to me. the idea thats its a bit wonky...hey that will make me smile every time I look at it and remember life is about living and stop worrying about everything being perfect.
Thanks!

I like the pinwheel side the best. Not sure why...the design just appeals to me. I'm always a sucker for pink. :-)

Well you certainly have a lot of celebrating going on lately! Congrats on both 25 and 100. Bet you never thoughts you could be congratted for both 100 and 25 at the same time before huh?

Well, I love both sides alot. I love the quilting of it too. If I had to settle down and pick a side I would say the log cabin side, because I have been loving log cabins lately.

syko kajsa said...

The best side of the quilt is that it has got two!

Thanks for the invitation to join the party! I love miniatures, both sides are wonderful, but I love the pinwheels. Congratulations on 100 posts and also on your anniversary!

A reversable miniquilt. Brilliant. I'd have to say the log cabin side is my favorite. Probably because I haven't tried that pattern yet and I desperately want to do so.

Dana said...

Oh I'm in. This mini quilt is beautiful and I love both sides. If I have to pick a favorite I'll go with the wonky side cause I'm so infatuated with your wonky log cabin quilts!

Congrats on the 100 mark!! I love your blog and didn't realize you only started in Jan.! Hmm - don't know if I can pick a favorite side - I guess I'm partial to log cabins but only because I can't get any triangle to ever line up right - LOL!
Have a wonderful trip with your hubby!

Happy Blogiversary and your Anniversary! I love Syko's stuff too. Your mini quilt is so cute, I love both sides but the pinwheels are my favorite.

Oooh! A blog-iversary and a hubbi-versary!!! You really know how to celebrate with a bang. (Love the cake too, by the way. Thanks for the link. I always like looking up new-to-me artists.)

I love the wonky log side. The linear feel just always *does it* for me. And I don't know why...just does! And I really dig your less-is-more quilting approach. Very chic! Well done!

Happy celebrating, Jacquie!!!

Sarah said...

i love both sides! i love the wonky side because it's wonky, and i love the traditional pinwheel mixed with cute modern prints. So cute!

I would have to say the pinwheel side is my fav. I am starting to get into the wonky log cabin. The log cabin quilts have never been a fav but when they are made a little wonky their fun starts to show. Beautiful quilt.

Happy 100 posts, and wishing you a wonderful 25th wedding anniversary! Love your mini quilt - the pinwheel side is my favourite as I am a big fan of pinwheels - love the illusion of movement. Syko's celebration card is so cute.

Congrats on the 100th post!
Also congrats on the anniversary! Hope you have a WONDERFUL time :-)
Hard to pick one side of the mini quilt 'cause both sides are so cute. Love the fabrics you used! Going with the pinwheels since I think it showcases the fabric a wee bit better. But again, that's a tough call!
Just recently found your blog, during one of those hopping-from-one-to-another sprees :-) It's now bookmarked and I will return regularly.

Wow! I just discovered your blog via the flickr mini quilt swap I am in too, love your stylr! Very funky! I like the pin wheel side of this little quilt the best. Nothing like triangles on crisp white! Lovely!

Pat at Bell Creek Quilts said...

Congrats on your blog birthday! I like botth sides but if I have to choose...then the pinwheels because I never piece pinwheels! :)

Beth said...

Congratulations on your 100th! I have so enjoyed reading your blog and seeing all the fabulous quilts you create. I love your sense of color. As for the quilt, I like the pinwheel side the best because I'm a nut for anything circular. Now, you may say, these are triangular, not circular. I still always imagine them spinning and, therefore, we get the circle. i know how hard it is to make all those points, too.

Amy said...

Yay, 100! Congratulations! I am with you, the support and inspiration from the crafting community is amazing...that's how I got to my 100th post. But about that mini, so cute! I love the log cabin block, one of my favorite patterns. Plus, yours is wonky and I love the word "wonky!"

Anonymous said...

Congrats. I just had my 100th swap too and am doing a swap so stop over and see if you would like to join. I love both sides so it's hard to decide but if I had to choose one I would the log cabin side.

jillytacy said...

I love the wonky log cabin side probably because I can't wait to try a wonky log cabin block my self. I'm new to quilting and am excited to try all kinds of new ideas and techniques. Congratulations on 100 posts! Well done!

Congratulations on both anniversaries! I guess I like the pinwheel side the best--but I'm a traditionalist at heart. Hope you have lots and lots of fun on your trip!

Happy 100th post! And happy 25th anniversary! I hope you have a wonderful celebration! I love the pinwheel side the best, I am fond of pinwheels as seen in my sidebar. Especially Quilt in A Day Double Pinwheel, I have made 3 of those to date. Although I do have a fondness for the log cabin as well. Good luck to all!

Trisha said...

That is so exciting to have a 100th post! I love your blog and appreciate the time you put into posting for us. I like the pinwheels side best because I have always loved the look of pinwheels. I like how your eye can catch pinwheels all in the same fabric and also ones made up of four different fabrics. Cute mini-quilt! So sweet!

Stephanie D said...

Congratulations on both reasons to celebrate! You are far more prolific than I!

I think I like the wonky side, because it was a whole new idea for me! Either one is beautiful, though.

I love both sides, but the pinwheels 1st, because I just cannot EVER get my pinwheels lined up so perfectly. Nice work!

Stacy said...

Oh no, your making me choose sides? I am so torn! I love them both so. Ok fine, I will have to go with wonky log cabin side because it kind of represents my life and my personality. A little off center and a bit wonky. And the colors of the whole thing are like peppermint ice cream! Mmmmmmm. Great Job hun on 100 posts and the quilt. And, Happy Anniversary!

Happy 25th wedding anniversary to you and your husband and congrats on your 100th post. You want to know which side I like best of the mini-quilt? I love both sides, the pinwheels and the log cabin although they each have a very different feel. The pinwheels are more classy and formal. The log cabin has much more of an easy going feel to it.

Magdalen said...

Lovely mini-quilt. Funny thing: I just went through the recent quilt magazines (I subscribe to them all) and there was a wonderful tip in, I think, Fons & Porter about making a little wallet out of plastic zip-loc bags for holding tools & snippets, etc. Now, me -- I'd put the pinwheels on the outside, and call the wallet "Proud Mary." But that's just me. (If the winning commenter wants more info, get in touch.)

Pretty in Pink is my favorite but I love anything resembling a Log Cabin. I would have thought that you were a blogger for years, your site is so professional. How do you do it and quilt, too? I love to quilt, have just moved and am not 'settled' yet and so haven't found a comfy place to set-up. Your blog is inspiring, I wish I had found it sooner and I could have been going week-by-week with you. But there is always catch-up, right? Thanks for inviting me to your party. Happy 25 years!

I've also been obsessed with log cabin-ness since I started knitting a few years ago, and I've been working on a knitted log cabin blanket forever. Anyway, happy anniversaries.
