Excuse Me While I Sew

I've got a deadline...the quilt I'm donating for the church raffle is just about due, and I've decided to start over. I know, these fabrics and colors look familiar. What can I say, I'm in a rut. A good rut, in my humble opinion, but a rut nonetheless. I was going to put the blocks together to make the redwork top last night and I just couldn't. I didn't love it, heck, I didn't even like it. I was so not ME. I know it's not about me, but it is representing me, so I put all the other work aside and cut these strips.
Right now, it's just an idea. Mom, don't faint or start to worry. I promise it will be done in time, and it will be better.
I did have a minute to get my fat quarter swap fabrics together.

Every spare minute now is in front of the sewing machine...clean dishes and a made bed are overrated.

*LOL*...I'm laughing because I was
sitting here just now seriously
thinking about 'scrapping a 'swap' project I'm working and starting all over. I saw some 'sneak peaks' this morning and well, I guess I'm feeling mine just might not measure up.......but all that
'hand' quilting I've done on it
all ready......sigh......

Vastly overrated! Can't wait to see the finished project. It's so terrific to see your style evolving and nudging you onward. I think I could recognize your work if I saw it on a dirt road in Bermuda, Jacquie!

Overrated, for sure.

A clean house is definitely overrated. And yes, it will be you and it will be better - can't wait to see what you come up with!

You definitely have to express yourself when you are donating a piece. I am in total agreement with you, it is a clear representation of you. I love what you have chosen and I am sure it will be just right. They will love it! Can't wait to see it!

better to love it - for sure! Enjoy the process and the house will still be there when your done :)

Well, I love the new strips. In fact, I want all those fabrics. These colors are one of my current obsessions. I knew it when I wore that color scheme twice in a row last week.

I would have done the exact some thing! You really can't go wrong with red and turq. they are a great combo. Oh those FQ looks yummy, I know your partner will love them.

Just goes to show you can't force creativity -- if it doesn't feel right, it just ain't gonna happen!

Glad you went with your gut. The end product is going to be SO much better because of it!

Best of luck in your mad rush of quilting. I know the feeling, everything else has to wait while you madly sew. I hope you enjoy the process as you go.

A quilt can last a lifetime, where as clean dishes and a made bed won't even last for 24 hours. It's a no-brainer... sew baby, sew! (Good luck, and you are very smart to go with what motivates and inspires you!)

Good luck! I've been there and quilting is so much more important than cleaning. :o)

I agree, nothing is more important than quilting. That's why they make cereal for dinner right? LOL

I know exactly what you mean.. it's not a rut... just your own signature style... and your style is great Jacquie... I almost made a whole quilt top before I cut it all up again and started my current baby quilt... just because it wasn't "me" even though it wasn't "for" me!! Lx

It's going to be fabulous! Now stop reading your emails and get back to sewing!!

Everyone should take a little sewing break, and often! Dishes and beds aren't so important I agree! Lovely looking strips... Can't wait to see more!

Your array of strips is great and I'm sure the finished quilt will be outstanding. I started over yesterday too, must have been the day for it.

I love your housekeeping philosophy! Have fun at the machine.

I love those fabrics!

Overrated is an understatement. As someone who is sitting among squalor herself, I say, Sew Girl Sew.

Oh, I love all of the comments you have received. Not a quilter here, but I do agree. Go where your heart is, the colors that sing to you and make you glad.
I can hear the hum of that machine as I type and if you have an old one..I can truly smell the ambiance and fragrance of the oil, enabling that little baby workhorse to charge on...the "snarky" seam ripper may be just at hand and beauty will come from your efforts..as it always does.
Charge on and damn the torpedoes.
It will be a work of wonder!
It's 4:30 and I am off to make the bed, clean the toilet and that's it..tee hee.

It's just gorgeous. What about naming it something like "Alice's Tea Party?"
